Introduction

We're currently seeking a skilled Software Developer who's well-versed in utilizing C, Visual C++, C#, PHP, and Oracle DB.

Preferably, you'll have experience with any combination of these languages since they form the backbone of our technology stack. This role is based in our Parktown office, offering flexible hours.

You can start as early as 6 am or as late as 9 am, depending on your preference.

The Developer will be reporting to the Engineering Manager South Africa and will be primarily responsible for the server side of our Solution.

As a Developer, your role will involve close collaboration with our engineers to ensure system consistency and enhance user experience.

Your ultimate goal will be to develop and maintain functional, stable solutions that meet our company's requirements. At our company, we strongly believe in the significance of efficient public transport and its positive impacts on the economy, environment, and accessibility.

Your tasks will include developing Web API, C++ applications, and C applications. To excel in this role, you should possess experience in business management, budgeting, and analysis.

Given the diverse nature of our clientele and colleagues spanning South Africa, France, and the UK, effective communication skills are essential.

You should feel comfortable managing multiple tasks simultaneously and demonstrate a strong aptitude for problem-solving within a team environment.

1. Designing and implementing software for embedded devices and systems, guiding them from initial requirements to production and commercial deployment.
2. Developing, coding, testing, and debugging system software to ensure its reliability and functionality.
3. Conducting thorough code reviews and design assessments to maintain high quality standards.
4. Analyzing and optimizing system resources for improved efficiency, stability, and scalability.
5. Integrating and validating new product designs to ensure seamless functionality.
6. Providing support for software quality assurance and optimizing input/output performance.
7. Offering post-production support to address any arising issues.
8. Collaborating with hardware design and development teams to ensure software-hardware compatibility.
9. Evaluating third-party and open-source software solutions to determine suitability for integration.
10. Participating actively in the entire application lifecycle, with a focus on coding, testing, and debugging.
11. Writing clean, functional code to meet application requirements.
12. Troubleshooting and debugging applications to resolve any issues.
13. Conducting user interface tests to optimize application performance.
14. Utilizing cutting-edge technologies to enhance legacy applications.
15. Working closely with Front-end developers to merge user-facing elements with server-side logic seamlessly.
16. Gathering and addressing technical and design requirements to meet project goals.
17. Providing training and support to operational teams as needed.
18. Developing reusable code and libraries for future projects.
19. Collaborating with developers, designers, and system administrators to identify and implement new features.
20. Investigating optimal solutions for implementation.
21. Drafting comprehensive technical documentation and best practices guidelines.
22. Assisting fellow Developers with problem-solving and technical issues.
23. Communicating issues and risks to the Software Delivery Manager.
24. Staying updated on emerging technologies and providing thought leadership on our solution.
25. Ensuring compliance with internal policies, Information Security Management Systems (ISMS), and legal regulations at all times.
26. Supporting System Integrators with back-office deployments.
27. Assisting the operations team with issue debugging and code maintenance.
28. Performing ad hoc duties as required, such as debugging reports.

1. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field is preferred.
2. A minimum of 3 years of experience in software development, utilizing either C/C++, C#, or a combination of both.
3. Profound understanding of the entire development process, encompassing analysis, design, development, and deployment phases.
4. Hands-on experience with programming and querying languages such as HTML, SQL, and Android.
5. Proven track record as a developer, demonstrating solid experience in languages including C++, C#, SQL, and PHP.
6. Strong familiarity with Unix environments, including bash scripting.
7. Knowledge of AWS is not mandatory but is considered advantageous.
8. Demonstrated working experience in software engineering, including hands-on development and troubleshooting on embedded targets.
9. Proven expertise in designing embedded systems with pre-emptive, multitasking real-time operating systems.
10. Ability to quickly comprehend source code for a high-level understanding.
11. Strong sense of issue investigation and resolution.
12. Proficiency with software configuration management tools, defect tracking tools, and peer review processes.
13. Working knowledge of .Net Frameworks and REST API architecture.
14. Excellent analytical and time management skills are essential.
15. Teamwork skills with a problem-solving attitude are crucial for success.
16. Familiarity with software methodologies such as Agile.
17. Proficiency in technical documentation and writing skills.
18. Ideally, knowledge of AWS solutions is preferred.
19. Excellent understanding of OS coding techniques, IP protocols, interfaces, and hardware subsystems.
20. Adequate proficiency in reading schematics and data sheets for components.

The SA base salary range for this full-time position is R40 – R70 + bonus.

The range displayed on the job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all SA locations. The salary ranges are determined by job related skills, experience level, relevant education and qualifications, training and additional factors including work location, suitability, and market related increases. The company also offers Medical aid, Provident fund and 20 days leave pa as well as flexi working hours.
