A new opportunity has arisen for a skilled Manager, Government Sales (Land-based Defense) to join our team in Busan, Korea. This role will be responsible for developing and driving sales strategies, managing key government and defense accounts, and ensuring sustainable growth for Rolls-Royce in the land-based defense sector.

Rolls-Royce Power Systems is headquartered in Friedrichshafen in southern Germany and employs around 9,000 people. The product portfolio includes mtu-brand high-speed engines and propulsion systems for ships, power generation, heavy land, rail and defense vehicles and for the oil and gas industry as well as diesel and gas systems and battery containers for mission critical, standby and continuous power, combined generation of heat and power, and microgrids.

Key Accountabilities
  • Develop and execute sales strategies for the land-based defense sector in Korea, ensuring alignment with Rolls-Royce’s global objectives.
  • Lead business development efforts, identifying new opportunities within the government and defense sectors.
  • Manage and strengthen relationships with key government agencies, military organizations, and defense contractors to drive long-term partnerships.
  • Oversee and manage tenders, bids, and contract negotiations, ensuring compliance with government procurement processes.
  • Collaborate with internal teams including engineering, commercial, and legal to drive successful sales outcomes.
  • Monitor and analyze market trends, government policies, and defense procurement regulations to identify risks and opportunities.
  • Represent Rolls-Royce at government meetings, defense expos, and industry events, positioning the company as a key defense solutions provider.
  • Ensure adherence to export control regulations, compliance policies, and corporate governance.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Business, Engineering, Defense Studies, or a related field.
  • Minimum 8-10 years of experience in government sales, defense contracting, or business development within the defense industry.
  • Strong understanding of Korea’s defense procurement processes, government tenders, and military acquisition programs.
  • Proven track record in managing government accounts and securing defense-related contracts.
  • Experience serving in the military or an extensive network within military and defense circles is highly preferred.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to analyze complex defense requirements and translate them into business opportunities.
  • Experience in working with government bodies, military institutions, and defense contractors is highly preferred.
  • Fluency in Korean and English is required for effective communication with local government agencies, military stakeholders, and international counterparts. This ensures clear, accurate communication, particularly in highly regulated and technical defense procurement processes.
