Job summary
A leader in waste management based in South Africa is seeking a SHEQ Officer to enhance safety standards and ensure compliance with environmental health regulations. This role requires implementing safety protocols across depots, conducting accident investigations, and fostering safety awareness among staff. Successful candidates will have a related qualification and at least two years of experience in the mining industry, alongside knowledge of ISO standards. This is a full-time position offering a chance to contribute to a culture of zero harm.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years SHEQ related experience in the mining industry.
- Experience with SAMTRAC environmental legislation.
- Familiarity with auditing standards is essential.
Responsibilities
- Improve audit results and compliance.
- Ensure acceptable LTIFR levels.
- Implement SHEQ awareness plans.
- Manage contractors and conduct investigations.

- Related qualification in Environmental and / or Safety and / or Quality Management
- 2 years SHEQ related experience in the mining industry
- SAMTRAC environmental legislation
- ISO 14001 EMS and / or Auditing
- ISO 9001 Systems and / or Auditors
- ISO 45001
- Continually strive to improve Audit results & compliance
- Ensure acceptable LTIFR levels by supporting operation
- Implementation of SHEQ awareness plan
- Contractor management
- Conduct accident and incident investigations
- Behaviour‑based safety compliance reinforcement monitoring and improvement
