The overall objective of this operations manager role is to effectively manage and oversee the day to day (also nightshift) operations of the depot / plant. This includes the short term planning and scheduling of daily operations. This extends from the productivity of drivers and their vehicles; along with the overall maintenance of vehicles; solving queries and so forth, in order to deliver exceptional service within clients’ SLA.

Budget Control:

1. Ensure all invoices and PO’s are signed off and submitted to Finance.
2. Follow up on outstanding money.
3. Insurance claims, traffic fines, vehicle maintenance.
4. Management of driver hours.
5. Budget and Resource Planning – Use relevant data and analysis to give input into budget preparation for the division / depot.

Client Service:

1. Service Culture – Deliver within SLA.
2. Partnership Management – Cultivate objective working relationships with a variety of stakeholders (e.g. HR team, IT, Clients).
3. Client Relationship Management – Daily client interactions on the frontline.
4. Solve challenges and queries to reduce complaints.

Operational Execution:

1. Oversee and manage own fleet of vehicles.
2. Schedule maintenance.
3. Weekly checks.
4. Services.
5. Washbay.
6. Breakdowns (where applicable).
7. Licensing of vehicles.
8. Manage diesel consumption.
9. Load trips onto inhouse application.
10. Manage and schedule drivers’ working hours.
11. Oversee successful loading of goods at clients with all relevant paperwork.
12. Planning and scheduling the overs (old order incomplete from last loading cycle with new orders received).
13. Site Management.
14. Manage the washbay.
15. Manage the workshop.
16. Manage the diesel.

Other:

1. Insurance Claims.
2. Adhoc Projects.
3. Debrief Paperwork (daily).

Reporting:

1. Prepare and submit weekly operational statistics.
2. Prepare and submit weekly financial flash to clients.
3. Prepare, analyse and submit monthly operational statistics.

Operational Efficiencies:

1. Work with a team of drivers to deliver operational efficiencies.
2. Delivery of superior quality customer experiences within SLA.
3. Fleet management.

Staff Management:

1. Manage own development to increase own competencies for the position function and future leadership growth opportunities.
2. Plan and manage performance, skills development and team motivation. Achieve efficiencies and increase competencies.
3. Address employee’s issues or grievances.
4. Management of drivers' performance, i.e., weekly monitoring of their consumption per km, daily debrief and weekly reports indicating outliers.
5. Driver PDP and licenses.
6. Manage drivers’ leave and overtime (update daily).
7. Support effective teamwork within depot / branch.
