Position
Marketing and Trading Manager - LNG
Reporting to: Head of Gas Business Division
INPEX ENERGY TRADING SINGAPORE PTE LTD (IETS) is a crude oil and LNG trading company in Singapore that focuses on the sale of crude oil and aims to conduct the LNG optimization of the INPEX Group.
The company has been increasing the trade volume of crude oil and seeking to expand its LNG portfolio and is now looking for a Marketing and Trading Manager - LNG.
Position Objective
The Gas Business Division of IETS currently aims to conduct the LNG optimization of the INPEX Group through the LNG spot transaction under the name of IETS and by using the INPEX portfolio including shipping arrangement advice.
To expand the business of IETS, in the near future IETS will be the LNG hub of the INPEX Group and will consider expanding the portfolio of the INPEX Group, including the purchase of new long‑term contracts.
To gather information about the LNG market and project‑related information to use for strategic planning and to enhance the possibility of LNG transactions for the INPEX Group.
To form deals to support LNG optimization, including seeking approval and reporting to the Head of Gas Business.
To explore and develop new business opportunities in the Asian region with crude oil and LNG, including middle and/or downstream gas business. Knowledge of the Japan market is essential.
Duties & Responsibilities
Manage and expand the INPEX LNG portfolio in the Japan market.
Optimize LNG within the INPEX Group and provide necessary advice to maximize profit, including selling or purchasing LNG cargo on a spot basis to optimize or balance the INPEX Group's portfolio.
Supervise LNG cargo operations conducted by the HQ LNG Trading Unit.
Assist in setting up ADPs for INPEX equity efficiently in order to mitigate volatility of the spot market and maximize profit.
Support discussion of long‑term contracts to expand the INPEX LNG portfolio.
Control and update credit lines with customers.
Gather information from customers and seek opportunities for optimization and balancing the INPEX Group's LNG positionli>
Assist and report to the Head of Gas Business and/or HQ efficiently to conduct LNG transactions for the INPEX Group.
Attend meetings with buyers, sellers, shipping brokers, ship owners, terminal operators, joint venture partners, and related internal teams, management, and stakeholders, discussing details in English and Japanese without an interpreter.
Record and update the database related to transactions (English and Japanese).
Manage and work with Japanese‑speaking managers of LNG, providing teamwork assistance for LNG transactions.
Requirements
Degree in social sciences, technical fields, or equivalent.
At least 8 years of experience in the oil and LNG industry, with at least 3 years as an LNG trader in a Japanese company in the energy sector, familiar with business customs and procedures.
Extensive knowledge and experience in LNG procurement and sales contract negotiations.
In‑depth experience in LNG project operations, particularly in FLNG projects.
Comprehensive understanding of Japan's energy landscape, the LNG market, and city gas business.
Strong expertise in Japanese gas market liberalization and related legal and regulatory frameworks.
>Proven sales experience in fuel conversion from alternative fuels to city gas.
Planning and execution of spot LNG tenders.
Planning and examination of long‑term LNG contracts to procure LNG from other companies.
Credit control with customers.
Preparation and review of LNG Master Sales and Purchase Agreements or related documents for LNG trading.
Execution of LNG delivery operations.
Japanese and English proficiency, with a minimum JLPT N1 or graduate-level proficiency, to read, write, and present in Japanese without a translator.
Ability to record and update the transaction database (English and Japanese) and monitor Japanese legal and regulatory developments related to carbon neutrality, participating in the sale of carbon‑neutral gas to city gas companies as wholesale customers.
