The Senior Nurse Manager (SNM) serves as the Head of Nursing at a designated MWS Nursing Home, responsible for leading the nursing team and ensuring high standards of care and clinical compliance under the Healthcare Services Act (HCSA). The SNM oversees all aspects of nursing services and collaborates with fellow senior clinicians to advance the clinical strategy across the MWS nursing home cluster.
ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES
Clinical and Operational Leadership
Lead the nursing function at the assigned MWS Nursing Home, covering Registered Nurses, Enrolled Nurses, and Nursing Aides.
Maintain safe staffing levels and an appropriate skill mix across wards.
Oversee all nursing workflows, ensuring alignment with SNB, MOH, and internal MWS clinical standards.
Supervise clinical documentation, care plans, and escalation protocols.
Fulfil the responsibilities of the Designated Person under HCSA or its equivalent, ensuring licensing and service safety obligations are met.
Regulatory Compliance and Audit Readiness
Ensure full compliance with the HCSA, SNB Codes of Practice, and all MOH regulatory requirements.
Lead preparation for internal audits and licensing inspections.
Maintain current SOPs, audit logs, and incident reports in an audit-ready state.
Quality and Risk Management
Chair the site’s Quality Assurance Committee (QAC) to drive improvements in safety, outcomes, and clinical effectiveness.
Monitor and address quality indicators such as falls, wounds, infections, and medication incidents.
Drive root cause analyses and quality improvement plans in response to adverse events or audit findings.
Workforce Development and Clinical Capability Building
Supervise, coach, and appraise Nurse Officers and emerging leaders.
Oversee new hire onboarding and clinical competency checks.
Develop nursing training calendars and CPD plans in line with regulatory and organisational priorities.
Support HR with performance management, promotions, and disciplinary processes when needed.
Strategic and Interdisciplinary Collaboration
Work closely with Allied Health, Medical, Case Management, and Ops teams to deliver holistic, person-centred care.
Contribute to the development of clinical standards, care protocols, and transformation projects across MWS nursing homes.
Represent nursing in strategic discussions, cross-NH initiatives, and integrated care forums.
Leadership Representation and Crisis Management
Represent the nursing service in centre management meetings, stakeholder engagements, and operational forums.
Lead the nursing response during crisis situations, including outbreaks, falls, and clinical escalations.
Act as the senior-most clinical contact on-site during assigned emergency coverage hours.
QUALIFICATIONS, COMPETENCIES & EXPERIENCE
Qualifications
· Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (required)
· Master’s Degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, or related field (preferred)
· Full registration with the Singapore Nursing Board (SNB)
Experience
Minimum 8–10 years of clinical nursing experience
At least 5 years of nursing home experience (preferred)
Proven experience in leading multidisciplinary nursing teams
Familiarity with HCSA and MOH regulatory frameworks for long-term care
