Project Manager

The Project Manager is responsible for the successful execution of assigned CAPEX projects under Company's PMO directive model.
This role ensures that all projects are delivered safely, on time, within scope and budget, and in full compliance with approved engineering designs, specifications, and PMO governance standards.
The Project Manager acts as the on-ground delivery leader, coordinating across engineering, contracts, controls, and QA/QC to achieve seamless execution from mobilization to handover.
Core Responsibilities
- Project Planning & Mobilization:
- Develop the Project Execution Plan (PEP) detailing scope, schedule, budget, resources, and communication channels.
- Review and validate construction drawings, BOQs, and technical packages with the Engineering & Technical Assurance team.
- Coordinate procurement and contractor mobilization with the Contracts & Procurement department.
- Prepare project-specific risk registers, quality plans, and HSE compliance requirements.
- Project Execution & Control:
- Lead day-to-day construction management activities at site level.
- Monitor work progress against schedule, budget, and performance targets using PMO approved tools (P6, SAP, Power BI).
- Coordinate site inspections, QA/QC checks, and material approvals in collaboration with engineering.
- Manage contractors, consultants, and vendors to ensure contractual obligations are met.
- Implement corrective and preventive measures to maintain progress and mitigate risks.
- Coordination & Communication:
- Conduct weekly coordination meetings with all project stakeholders.
- Prepare weekly and monthly project progress reports for Program Manager and PMO Director.
- Communicate key risks, issues, and changes promptly to the PMO.
- Ensure that project documentation, permits, and as-built drawings are properly maintained and submitted to Document Control.
- Budget & Cost Management:
- Monitor project financial performance and forecast expenditures.
- Review and recommend approval of progress invoices, variations, and claims.
- Support the Cost Engineer and Head of Project Controls in value engineering and budget optimization.
- Ensure full traceability between committed costs and approved budget.
- Quality, Safety & Handover:
- Ensure compliance with QA/QC standards and safety requirements at all stages.
- Conduct site inspections and verify quality deliverables before handover.
- Lead the project commissioning and closeout process in coordination with the Engineering and QA/QC teams.
- Ensure lessons learned and post-project evaluations are captured for future improvement.
Stage-Gate Responsibilities
- Gate 1 – Initiation: Review and validate project charter and scope handover from Program Manager. Participate in feasibility and constructability reviews.
- Gate 2 – Planning: Develop detailed execution plan, baseline schedule, and cost estimate. Coordinate risk and resource planning with relevant departments.
- Gate 3 – Execution: Lead site execution, monitor progress, and manage change requests, risks, and contractor performance.
- Gate 4 – Commissioning & Handover: Coordinate testing, commissioning, and acceptance. Verify deliverables and readiness for operational handover.
- Gate 5 – Closure & Benefits: Finalize documentation, ensure financial closeout, and participate in lessons learned and benefit realization review.
Qualifications & Experience
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering.
- Certification: PMP required; PMI-SP, RMP, or equivalent technical certifications are an advantage.
- Experience: Minimum 10–15 years in project management of industrial, utility, or infrastructure projects, including at least 5 years as site Project Manager.
- Knowledge: Construction management and project delivery frameworks; FIDIC-based contracts and contractor administration; planning, cost, and quality control principles.
- Systems: Primavera P6, SAP, Power BI, MS Project, and SharePoint.
- Skills: Leadership, coordination, problem-solving, decision-making, and communication.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Project completion within approved time and budget (% compliance).
- Safety performance (TRIR/LTI rate).
- Quality compliance rate (% of inspections passed first time).
- Contractor performance rating (% satisfactory).
- Number of change orders and their financial impact (% variance).
- Stakeholder satisfaction (%).
This role requires frequent on-site presence at a project location that is approximately a two-hour commute from the company headquarters (HQ).
