Job summary

A Japanese dining establishment in Malaysia is seeking a dedicated individual to join their hospitality team. Responsibilities include welcoming guests, taking and serving orders, and ensuring high standards of hygiene and cleanliness. No prior experience is required as training will be provided. Candidates should possess good communication and interpersonal skills and be fluent in English and Malay. Knowledge of Japanese dining customs is an advantage. Job description
Responsibilities
  • 1. To welcome and greet guests, record walk-in details and update in Seven Rooms reservation system.
  • 2. To perform the standard Opening or Closing of shift procedures, ensuring your workstation is clean and tidy at all times.
  • 3. To ensure that mise-en-place at your workstation is well replenished and properly stocked with standard wares and condiments before starting your shift.
  • 4. To present the food and beverage menu and inform guests of any special promotions or changes to the menu.
  • 5. To suggest special food and beverage items to the guest and engage in up-selling.
  • 6. To take food and beverage orders from guests according to prescribed procedures and enter the orders in our Point-of-Sales (POS) system, which relays orders to the kitchen and bar.
  • 7. To serve food and beverage to guests according to established standards.
  • 8. To check with guests for feedback on the food and beverage.
  • 9. To present the check to the guests, accept payment, and process various payment methods (credit card, charge card, or cash).
  • 10. To clean and reset tables as soon as guests leave.
  • 11. To perform specific duties such as refilling water, pouring tea, and assisting guests with any additional tasks.
  • 12. To ensure work station is clean and tidy, replenishing the supply of silverware, glassware, and any other serving ware before closing hours.
  • 13. To be attentive to any guest complaints, handling them in a courteous manner, and immediately reporting any issues to the Restaurant Manager.
  • 14. To adhere to food hygiene standard operating procedures.
  • 15. To maintain a high standard of personal appearance and hygiene at all times.
  • 16. To carry out any other duties and responsibilities assigned from time to time.
Requirements
