Job summary

A government water supply entity in Penang is looking for a laboratory technician for meter testing. Responsibilities include ensuring compliance with safety standards, maintaining laboratory records, and performing meter verifications. Candidates should possess a Diploma in Mechanical Engineering and be proficient in both Bahasa Malaysia and English. Job description
Responsibilities
  • Ensure that all subordinates perform according to established procedures, in accordance with the requirements of ISO 9001.
  • Ensure the safety & health of workers and working environment in good condition in accordance with the requirements of ISO 45001.
  • Ensure the meter test laboratory activities are in accordance to MS ISO/IEC 17025 management systems.
  • Ensure all records and procedures for Water Meter Laboratory are kept updated and stored according to pre-defined retention period.
  • Assist the Engineer to compile and reply the findings from Department Standard Malaysia (DSM) assessment.
  • Perform verification of meter’s final reading within the stipulated time frame upon receiving at workshop.
  • Ensure all meters received in workshop come with complete documentation and are segregated based on their cases.
  • Ensure Meter Test Bench is always in good condition for testing including equipment calibration, maintenance and intermediate checks.
  • Ensure all tools and equipment are clean, safe and sufficient.
  • Ensure all special tests with witness take place within 7 working days.
  • Enter all meter test results into iRMS system and route to respective department.
  • Highlight any conflict with iRMS system involving meter test and meter verification to IT department for further action.
  • Involve with intra-laboratory testing with other meter laboratory personnel.
  • Achieve targets for meter test laboratory.
  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment for water meter testing laboratory.
  • Record all testing and compile in organized manners.
  • Key in all condemn meter and reuse meter into Oracle System before sending to the store.
  • Provide test report analysis for meter testing before approval by Engineer.
Qualifications
  • Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent qualifications and approved by Malaysian Government.
  • Experience in related field, especially with an accredited ISO 17025 laboratory or mechanical testing/calibration bodies, would be an added advantage.
  • Proficient in both written and spoken Bahasa Malaysia and English.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Possess supervisory, analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Positive attitude, highly initiative and able to work independently with minimum supervision.
  • Possess ability to work under pressure, tight schedules and in stringent environment.
  • Fresh graduates are encouraged to apply.
