Job summary

A leading test and measurement company in Penang is seeking an experienced Technical Support Engineer to enhance customer experience and support a global distributor network. This newly created role involves serving as the main technical contact, performing troubleshooting for various equipment, and maintaining documentation. Ideal candidates will hold a relevant degree and possess strong hands-on experience with test instruments. Excellent customer communication skills are essential. Technical Support Engineer / Senior Engineer / Specialist ( Test & Measurement)

We are expanding our Global Customer Care team and seeking an experienced Technical Support Personnel to support our growing customer base. This is a newly created position designed to strengthen our technical response capability, enhance customer experience, and support our global distributor network.

Overview

Core Responsibility: Technical Support

Serve as the main technical contact for global customers and distributors via Zendesk, email, calls, and online meetings.

Responsibilities
  • Perform detailed troubleshooting for few but not all:
    Digital & mixed-signal oscilloscopes
  • Spectrum analyzers & RF sources
  • Function / arbitrary waveform generators
  • Programmable power supplies & DC electronic loads
  • Bench multimeters and related accessories
  • Verify customer symptoms, analyze test setups, replicate issues when needed, and provide accurate solutions or workarounds.
  • Coordinate with regional repair centers and internal engineering teams to resolve technical cases effectively.
  • Maintain clear documentation and ensure timely ticket closure within target SLAs.
  • Basic scripting or automation skills (SCPI) is a must, LabVIEW will be an advantage.
  • Knowledge in high-speed protocol (PCIe, USB, MIPI, etc..) will be an advantage.
Supporting Responsibilities
  • Calibration Support
  • Assist customers with calibration-related questions such as intervals, certificate interpretation, and basic verification steps.
  • Coordinate calibration handling with internal or external calibration partners when necessary.
  • Engage repair centers to clarify technical symptoms and follow up on progress.
  • Provide structured technical details to support failure analysis and escalations.
  • Contribute to troubleshooting guides, FAQs, and internal knowledge materials.
  • Share recurring issue patterns with product and quality teams.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical & Electronics Engineering, or related field.
  • 5 years of relevant working experience is preferable in:
  • Test & measurement equipment usage
  • Electronics R&D, service, or manufacturing with strong measurement exposure.
  • Good knowledge in troubleshooting skills with a structured analytical approach.
  • Comfortable handling customer-facing communication and working with multi-region teams.
  • Strong hands-on experience operating oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, RF generators, power supplies, electronic loads, and other T&M instruments.
  • Experience with ticketing systems such as Zendesk is an advantage.
Preferred
  • Exposure to calibration concepts, measurement verification, or ISO-related practices.
  • Ability to interpret technical specifications, waveforms, and measurement results.
