Job description

Job Title: Supply Chain Manager

Location: Penang, Malaysia

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead End-to-End Supplier Lifecycle Management
  • Lead sourcing, qualification, and onboarding of suppliers for both standard components (mechanical/electrical parts, sensors, pneumatic elements) and custom non-standard parts (machined components, sheet metal fabrications, welded assemblies);
  • Independently conduct on-site supplier audits to assess technical capability, capacity alignment, quality management systems (e.g., ISO9001/IATF16949), and delivery reliability;
  • Build and maintain a high-performing local supplier base, perform regular QCDTS-based performance reviews, and drive improvement or phase-out of underperforming suppliers.
  • Drive Sourcing Strategy & Cost Optimization
  • Lead Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) analysis for critical components by interpreting drawings and breaking down material, process (milling, turning, sheet metal forming, surface treatment), and labor costs;
  • Lead annual commercial negotiations to optimize pricing, payment terms, MOQs, and secure group-level framework agreements;
  • Actively participate in early-stage BOM reviews to recommend standardization, alternative sourcing, and Design-for-Procurement (DfP) improvements for cost control at source.
  • Own Project Material Delivery Execution
  • Manage end-to-end procurement execution for non-standard automation projects—from requirement confirmation, RFQ/RFP, contract signing to goods receipt;
  • Rapidly respond to engineering changes (ECNs) or urgent demands by coordinating with suppliers to adjust pricing and delivery schedules, safeguarding critical project milestones;
  • Lead resolution of supply disruptions (e.g., delays, incoming quality issues) by aligning cross-functionally with Quality, Project, and Production teams to drive root cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with Planning, Warehouse & Logistics
  • Understand MPS/MRP logic and align procurement timing with project schedules to balance inventory and delivery risk;
  • Work with warehouse teams to optimize safety stock for custom parts, monitor obsolescence, and improve inventory turns;
  • Be familiar with U.S./Canada export compliance requirements—including HS code classification, rules of origin (e.g., USMCA), and documentation standards (commercial invoice, packing list)—and coordinate with logistics/customs brokers to ensure smooth clearance.
