Job summary

A leading automotive parts supplier in Malaysia is seeking a Material Management Manager to lead the end-to-end material management process. The ideal candidate will ensure compliance with Just-In-Time and Kanban principles, optimize inventory levels, and supervise a dedicated team. This role demands proven experience in logistics and inventory control, alongside strong leadership and communication skills. Candidates should possess a Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field and at least 5 years of experience, including 2 years in a managerial role.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience including 2 years in a leadership role.
  • Professional certification in Logistics or Supply Chain is an advantage.
  • In-depth knowledge of JIT, Kanban, and Lean Manufacturing.

Job description
Responsibilities
  • Lead and oversee the end-to-end material management process, ensuring compliance with Just-In-Time (JIT) and Kanban principles.
  • Develop and implement strategies to optimize inventory levels while ensuring material availability to support uninterrupted production.
  • Plan, execute, and review monthly and annual stock take activities to ensure high inventory accuracy.
  • Supervise and develop the MMD (Material Management Department) team, including daily task management and performance monitoring.
  • Design, improve, and manage the entire material flow process from warehouse to production line, ensuring efficiency and traceability.
  • Collaborate closely with Production, Procurement, and Planning teams to prevent production downtime caused by material shortages.
  • Oversee all logistics functions, including inbound and outbound shipments, freight management, and supplier coordination.
  • Ensure on-time delivery of parts and finished goods to customers in alignment with delivery schedules or call‑in requirements.
  • Establish, review, and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Work Instructions (WIs), and other process documentation to ensure operational excellence.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives related to material flow, cost reduction, warehouse layout, and system efficiency.
Skill Requirements
  • Proven experience in material management, inventory control, and logistics at a supervisory or managerial level.
  • In-depth knowledge of supply chain principles, especially in JIT, Kanban, and Lean Manufacturing.
  • Strong command of ERP systems (e.g., AutoCount or equivalent) and Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and manage teams effectively across cross‑functional departments.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Fluent in Bahasa Malaysia and English, both written and verbal.
Qualification & Experience Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant working experience, including at least 2 years in a leadership or managerial role.
  • Professional certification in Logistics, Inventory Management, or Supply Chain (e.g., APICS, CPIM) is an added advantage.
