Job summary

A healthcare facility is seeking a Staff Nurse/Senior Staff Nurse for its Paediatric Ward. Staff Nurse/Senior Staff Nurse - Paediatric Ward
Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direct nursing care to paediatric patients, developmental stage, and medical condition.

  • Perform accurate nursing assessments and document findings in the patient’s record.

  • Administer medications, IV infusions, and treatments safely as prescribed by the physician.

  • Monitor vital signs, fluid balance, nutritional intake, and report any abnormalities promptly.

  • Assist doctors during medical rounds, procedures, and emergency interventions.

  • Manage pain, fever, and other symptoms using appropriate interventions.

  • Prepare and support children for diagnostic procedures and surgeries.

Family Support and Education
  • Educate and counsel parents/guardians regarding the child’s condition, medication, nutrition, hygiene, and discharge care.

  • Offer emotional support to families during stressful or critical periods.

  • Promote family involvement in patient care to ensure continuity at home.

Infection Control and Safety
  • Maintain strict infection prevention and control practices within the ward.

  • Ensure cleanliness, hygiene, and proper handling of medical equipment.

  • Adhere to hospital safety standards, including the safe handling of sharps and hazardous materials.

Documentation and Reporting
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and complete nursing documentation.

  • Participate in patient case discussions, nursing handovers, and clinical audits.

  • Report any incidents, accidents, or near-misses according to hospital protocol.

Professional and Team Collaboration
  • Work collaboratively with doctors, allied health professionals, and other nurses to ensure holistic patient care.

  • Supervise and mentor junior nurses, student nurses, or nursing aides.

  • Participate in continuous nursing education, training, and quality improvement activities.
