Overview
Responsible for designing, developing, and delivering effective training programs that meet the needs of our organization and contribute to the professional development of our employees. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in instructional design, adult learning principles, and a proven track record of delivering impactful training solutions.
Competency Matrix
- Collaborate with department heads to gather insights into specific skill gaps and developmental opportunities.
- Analyse assessment data to identify trends, patterns, and common areas of improvement.
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive competency matrix outlining the required skills and knowledge for each role.
Training Needs Analysis (TNA)
- Conduct interview with HODs, CAP compilation & preparation, Skill Matrix.
- Use data to plan training programs for the whole year.
- Conduct thorough assessments to identify training needs and gaps within the organization.
Instructional Design & Training Delivery
- Design engaging and effective training materials, including presentations, manuals, and multimedia content.
- Develop curriculum and learning paths.
- Deliver training sessions through various modalities, such as in-person workshops, virtual classrooms and e-learning platforms.
- Facilitate interactive and participatory learning experiences to enhance knowledge retention.
- Collaborate with subject matter experts and department heads to ensure training content is accurate and aligned with organisational goals.
- Strong interpersonal skills to build relationships and establish rapport with diverse audiences.
Coordination of Staff Trainings
Pre-Training
- Planning – source trainers, compare at least 3 quotations, arrange content‑customisation discussions, arrange gemba if necessary and ensure course content meets Mattel’s needs & GMP requirements.
- Raise e‑training requests / educate requestors to raise requests.
- Work out the most suitable schedule with trainers & communicate to participants and their supervisors.
- Food orders with canteen.
- Documentation preparation: attendance sheet, evaluation forms, training material and handouts.
- Request gate pass for trainers.
- Prepare NDA for new trainers.
Training Day
- Usher trainers to the training room & conduct safety briefing.
- Assist trainers to set up laptops (if required).
- Ensure full attendance for training.
- Take pictures of training activities for archive.
- Ensure participants sign attendance and complete evaluation forms / post‑test.
Post Training
- Implement evaluation strategies to assess the effectiveness of training programmes.
- Gather feedback from participants and stakeholders to continuously improve training content.
- Follow up after 3 months on Evaluation Level 3 report & distribute certificate of attendance.
- Support all audits by providing training records.
Others
- Support specific organisational needs for different levels of employees (e.g. coaching programmes for new managers, Process Engineering Series, Supervisory Development, etc.).
- Monitor the planning and implementation of EHS training programmes in MMSB & MDT.
- Ensure yearly training hours are met for both staff & DL level.
- Monitor HRDF utilisation and act as liaison between Mattel, PSMB and other industry players.
- Plan & implement on‑boarding schedule for newly joined staff / managers from Day 2 orientation to line‑process training.
- Screen, review and process all Education Assistance Programme applications.
- Support & promote organisation’s values and key concepts.
- Coordinate HR monthly update – invite speakers, plan contents, food and room arrangement.
Qualifications, Skills & Experience
- Certified as a trainer.
- Bachelor’s degree in HRM, Management, Education, Training and Development or a related field. Master’s degree is a plus.
- Proven experience as a training consultant or similar role.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to articulate concepts clearly and concisely.
- Strong knowledge of instructional design principles and adult learning theories.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Proficient in the use of various training tools and technologies.
- Ability to adapt training programmes to meet the evolving needs of the organisation and respond to changing priorities.
- Flexibility in adjusting training delivery methods to accommodate different learning environments, including virtual and in‑person settings.
- Detail‑oriented with strong organisational and project‑management skills.
- Adept at identifying training gaps and implementing innovative solutions to address organisational learning needs.
- Proactive in troubleshooting and resolving issues that may arise during training sessions.
