Job summary

A leading global manufacturing company in Penang is seeking an experienced Senior Process Engineering Manager to drive automation and engineering improvements. The candidate will lead projects related to cost, quality, and delivery, working closely with cross-functional teams. Required qualifications include a Bachelor’s Degree and at least 5 years of relevant experience in Process Engineering and Automation. Strong skills in Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, and SPC analysis are essential for this role.

Sr. Process Engineering Manager- Flex Bukit Minyak

To support our extraordinary teams who build great products and contribute to our growth, we’re looking to add a Process Engineering Manager located in Bukit Minyak, Penang.
Reporting to the Director, Operations Engineering the Sr. Process Engineering Manager will be focused on cost, quality and delivery improvements in order to hold up a manufacturing organization. Improving process engineering capabilities and managing projects deployment across Core Industrial sites, will ensure the technical feasibility, ROI and execution on time.

What a typical day looks like:

Lead initiatives to increase throughput, reduce cost and improve efficiencies.

Ability to analyze process parameters, troubleshot issues, conduct root cause analysis, and implement effective solutions.

Work closely with engineering site leaders, to deploy process and quality improvements.

Drive continuous improvement process to increase yields and reduce defects.

Conduct process validation and optimization activities, including DOE (Design of Experiments) studies, process capability analysis, to identify opportunities for improvement and enhance process robustness.

Improve manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning workflow, space requirements, cycle time and production floor layout.

Provides process recommendations for technical and cost perspective.

Lead process engineering activities with senior stakeholders.

Define manufacturing process flow and type of equipment to be used for NPIs, focusing on high quality standard and productivity.

Define, develop, and deploy automation cost effective automation solution into Flex sites.

Review RFQ’s and evaluate supplier quotations to obtain the best combination of technical solution, cost and timing.

Develop budget and schedule for projects and manage projects to stay within them. Able to quickly cost evaluate and work up the financial justification for automation.

Conduct equipment design reviews and provide design guidance to suppliers and sites.

Draft protocols and support equipment qualification activities.

Support on new product development and automation needs, facilitate assembly processes through the implementation of assembly automated cells at NPI stage and ensure to meet development timeline.

Interface with customers and functional owners on product development issues regarding automation. Conduct meetings with sites and provide detailed recommendations for issue resolutions.

Participate in design reviews and provide status reports as per established schedule.

Prepare and maintain documentation related to the processes improvements.

The experience we’re looking to add to our team

Bachelor’s Degree in engineering electronics, mechatronics or related field is required

A Master's degree is preferred

Prefer 5 years and above working experiences in Process Engineering and Automation

Experience in PCBA Manufacturing Processes and improving methods.

Solid experience in the electronics manufacturing process, such as SMT, backend (PTH) and Box Build), including equipment, materials and tooling (stencil and fixtures).

Knowledge of tools like Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing, to drive improvement initiatives.

Strong background in mechanical assembly, chassis integration, PCB assembly and PMFEA.

Understanding of Test (X-Ray, ICT, FVT, BI), Failure Analysis and Repair process for electronic manufacturing.

Familiarity with industry quality standards like IPC and J-STD-001.

Experience managing automated processes within schedule and budgetary parameters.

Must have experience in electro-mechanical assemblies and process troubleshooting.

Knowledge of Industry 4.0 automation.

SPC interpretation and analysis, advanced skills in Minitab, Excel and Power Point

Digitalization and control.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills for customer contact and collaboration with cross-functional teams.
