Job description

We are looking for a talented SQE Quality Engineer to join our team at CHERY CORPORATE MALAYSIA SDN. BHD. in Lembah Beringin, Selangor. This is a full-time role that will play a crucial part in ensuring the quality and safety of our manufacturing processes and products.

What you’ll be doing

1. Supplier Quality Management & Project Development Management

Responsible for Malaysia-based project and site development, including APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning) monitoring, to ensure effective implementation, achievement of development objectives, and proper deliverables at each APQP phase.

Conduct evaluation, qualification, and performance assessment for new and existing suppliers.

Establish and maintain supplier quality standards in accordance with project and customer requirements.

Monitor supplier production processes and drive Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA) to address quality issues.

Perform supplier site audits (factory, material, and process audits), prepare audit reports, and ensure timely follow-up on action plans.

Support Procurement in developing and maintaining a local supplier database to enable rapid project and localization development.

2. Material Incoming & Project Quality Control

Define, implement, and maintain Incoming Quality Control (IQC) standards, inspection specifications, and acceptance criteria.

Monitor incoming material quality performance and defect rates, and initiate continuous improvement actions.

Work closely with Project, Construction, and Procurement teams to resolve on-site material quality and compliance issues.

Lead root cause analysis and problem-solving activities using quality tools such as 8D, 5 Why, FMEA, SPC, and other applicable methodologies.

3. Quality System, Documentation & Compliance

Develop and maintain SOPs, inspection standards, quality forms, and technical documentation.

Ensure supplied materials and processes comply with IATF 16949, ISO standards, and applicable local regulatory requirements.

Prepare and present weekly and monthly supplier quality performance reports, including PPM, OTD, NCR, and penalty records.

Support internal and external audits, and ensure continuous improvement of the quality management system.

What we’re looking for

1. Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality, or a related discipline.

2. Solid understanding of the IATF 16949 Quality Management System.

3. IATF 16949 Internal Auditor certification is preferred.

4. Knowledge of VDA 6.3 standards; VDA 6.3 Process Audit certification is a strong advantage.

5. Hands-on experience in supplier quality management, project quality, and APQP implementation.

6. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to work cross-functionally.

7. Familiarity with automotive project development and supplier management in a manufacturing environment.
