Job summary

Responsibilities

• Assist educators in implementing lesson plans and adapting them for students with special needs.
• Provide one-on-one support to students, facilitating participation in classroom activities.
• Help maintain an inclusive classroom environment that promotes engagement and social-emotional development.
• Provide direct support to students with special needs in academics, social skills, and behaviour management.
• Assist with personal care tasks, ensuring the safety and well-being of students.
• Implement strategies directed by educators and therapists to support individualized education plans (IEPs).
• Organise and maintain classroom materials, ensuring a clean learning environment.
• Support educators in managing student behaviour and implementing positive strategies.
• Collaborate with the teaching team to develop visual schedules and supports.
• Maintain open communication with educators, therapists, and team members regarding student needs.
• Share observations about students' strengths and areas for development.
• Contribute to maintaining accurate records of student progress and incidents.

Responsibilities

• Assist educators in implementing lesson plans and instructional materials, adapting them as necessary to meet the individual needs of students with special needs.
• Provide one-on-one or small group support to students, reinforcing concepts and facilitating their participation in classroom activities.
• Help maintain a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes student engagement, motivation, and social-emotional development.

Student Assistance

• Provide direct support to students with special needs in various aspects of their learning, including academics, social skills, communication, and behaviour management.
• Assist with personal care tasks, such as feeding, toileting, and mobility, ensuring the safety and well-being of students.
• Implement strategies and interventions as directed by educators and therapists to support students\' individualized education plans (IEPs).

Classroom Organization and Management

• Assist in organising and maintaining classroom materials, resources, and equipment, ensuring a clean and safe learning environment.
• Support educators in managing student behaviour and implementing positive behavior support strategies.
• Collaborate with the teaching team to develop and maintain visual schedules, visual supports, and other tools that enhance students\' understanding and independence.

Communication and Collaboration

• Maintain open and effective communication with educators, therapists, and other team members regarding students\' progress, challenges, and individualized needs.
• Share observations and insights about students\' strengths, interests, and areas for development with the education team.
• Collaborate with the team to implement strategies and interventions consistently across different settings and routines.

Documentation and Record Keeping

• Assist in maintaining accurate and up-to-date records of student progress, observations, and incidents in accordance with established procedures.
• Contribute to the preparation of progress reports, individualized education plans (IEPs), and other relevant documentation.
• Respect and maintain the confidentiality of student information and adhere to data protection policies.
