Job Description
- Equipment Ownership & Maintenance
- Own the performance and reliability of SMT equipment, including printers, placement machines, SPI, AOI, reflow ovens, conveyors, and loaders/unloaders.
- Own and maintain all SMT equipment:
- Screen Printer (Panasonic, DEK, MPM)
- SPI (Koh Young, CyberOptics)
- Pick‑and‑Place (Panasonic/Juki/ASM)
- Reflow Oven
- AOI, conveyors, loaders/unloaders
- Develop and manage preventive maintenance (PM) and calibration schedules.
- Troubleshoot equipment issues and perform root-cause analysis for recurring failures.
- Ensure equipment performance meets OEE, CPH, and quality targets.
- SMT Process Integration
- Support NPI builds with complete equipment setup (printer program, SPI settings, placement program, reflow profile).
- Validate process stability through MSA, capability studies (Cp/Cpk), and machine GR&R.
- Review stencil design, panel design, fiducial placement, and pick‑and‑place constraints.
- Automation & Connectivity
- Support MES/SAP integration, real‑time machine data connectivity, dashboards, and Industry 4.0 initiatives.
- Ensure SMEMA/SECS‑GEM compatibility for equipment interfacing.
- Use machine logs and SPC data to identify trends for improvement.
- Quality & Compliance
- Maintain compliance with IPC‑A‑610, IPC‑7351, and internal quality standards.
- Lead investigations for SMT defects: misalignment, bridging, tombstoning, opens, voids.
- Drive corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) with cross-functional teams.
- Support qualification and audits with customers and suppliers.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field.
- Diploma holders with strong hands‑on SMT equipment experience may also be considered
- Technical Qualifications
- 2–5 years of direct experience in SMT equipment engineering, covering:
- Screen Printer (Panasonic, DEK, MPM)
- SPI (Koh Young, CyberOptics)
- Pick‑and‑Place (Panasonic/Juki/ASM)
- Reflow Oven
- AOI, conveyors, loaders/unloaders
- Strong understanding of SMT process fundamentals including stencil design, solder paste characteristics, thermal profiling, and PCBA assembly flow.
- Technical Skills
- Hands‑on troubleshooting of electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and software issues on SMT equipment.
- Ability to run and interpret:
- Solder paste height/volume analysis (SPI)
- Thermal profiling and optimization
- Machine capability studies (Cp/Cpk)
- Equipment GR&R and MSA
- Familiarity with IPC standards:
- IPC‑A‑610, IPC‑7351, and relevant SMT design/manufacturing guidelines.
