Job description

Senior Enterprise Technology Engineer (Field Logistics) is a critical role responsible for the design, implementation, configuration, and support of SAP Field Logistics solutions, primarily focusing on integration with other SAP modules (e.g. MM, P2P, FICO). The role requires deep expertise in SAP S/4 Field Logistics processes, methodologies, and integration points, as well as strong analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills. You will work closely with business users, technical teams, and external consultants to ensure that the SAP S/4 Field Logistics solution meets the organization’s business needs and aligns with its overall technology strategy.

Collaborators

This role collaborates closely with Business Teams, ERP Sustain & Operations, and the ERP Transformation Programme to build and implement outstanding SAP S/4 Field Logistics solutions. You will work alongside business members, enterprise architects, functional consultants, and third‑party vendors. The position sits within the Technology DevOps Team and encourages close collaboration with geographically dispersed teams, including Global Functional and Technical Product Managers and Owners.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the build and configuration of SAP S/4 Field Logistics solutions, including defining organizational structures, customizing functionalities, and configuring integrations with other SAP modules.
  • Analyze and understand business requirements related to field logistics, translate them into functional specifications, and propose solutions within the SAP Field Logistics framework.
  • Lead implementation projects, including planning, testing, training, launch support, cutover activities, and post‑implementation support.
  • Investigate and resolve issues related to SAP Field Logistics, working closely with technical teams and SAP support; perform root‑cause analysis and implement corrective actions.
  • Identify opportunities to improve and optimize SAP Field Logistics processes and functionalities, propose enhancements, and implement approved changes.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation related to SAP Field Logistics configurations, processes, and user manuals.
  • Share knowledge and guidelines with team members and business users; mentor junior team members.
  • Collaborate reliably with business users, IT teams, and external consultants to ensure detailed integration and support of SAP S/4 Field Logistics solutions.
What you will need to be successful (experience and qualifications)
  • Demonstrable ability to analyze and optimize field‑logistics business processes.
  • Hands‑on experience with SAP Field Logistics, IS‑OIL RLM, Materials Management, and Inventory Management modules.
  • Experience in field service operations, service parts management, mobile workforce support, logistics coordination, reverse logistics, and field inventory management.
  • Consultant experience, ideally within a Big 4 or similar firm, with client interaction, requirements gathering, and project delivery.
  • Deep understanding of the client’s industry (e.g. Oil & Gas, utilities, retail).
  • Leadership experience in project planning, execution, budget control, and stakeholder communication.
  • Knowledge of how SAP MM/IM integrates with other modules such as PM and FI/CO.
  • Understanding of organisational change principles and experience supporting change initiatives.
Essential Skills
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 10 years of hands‑on experience in SAP Remote Logistics Management or SAP S/4 Field Logistics configuration and implementation.

If Field Logistics expertise is not available, candidates must demonstrate equivalent hands‑on experience in IS‑Oil Remote Logistics Management.

  • Proficiency in secondary modules is required, including Extended Warehouse Management (EWM), Materials Management (MM), Quality Management (QM), and integration into Plant Maintenance, Finance/Controlling, and SAP Business Network.
Skills that set you apart
  • Additional certifications in supply‑chain management, logistics, or project management (e.g., CSCP, PMP).
  • Master’s degree or equivalent experience in computer science.
  • Experience configuring and implementing SAP S/4 Field Logistics for upstream O&G and refineries.
  • Experience in Maintenance, Repair & Operations (MRO) industry.
  • Project management experience delivering IT‑led projects.
  • Broad experience in design, planning, implementation, maintenance, and documentation of services and solutions.
  • Exposure to large‑scale SAP ERP migrations and enhancements.
  • Experience in highly supervised industries such as energy, finance, or manufacturing.
