Job summary

A leading hotel in Malaysia is seeking an experienced Sales Manager to develop and implement sales strategies, identify new business opportunities, and drive revenue. The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of experience in hotel sales within luxury or upscale hospitality, along with excellent communication and networking skills. You will be responsible for building client relationships, leading negotiations, and collaborating with various departments to ensure successful execution of business objectives. This full-time position is based in Kuala Lumpur and involves travel for client meetings.

Qualifications

Develop and implement comprehensive sales strategies to meet or exceed hotel revenue and market share targets (rooms, banquets, MICE, and other hotel products).

Identify and pursue new business opportunities in corporate, MICE, travel trade, and other key market segments.

Generate sales forecasts and regular performance reports for management review.

Client Management & Business Development

Build and maintain strong relationships with existing clients and key accounts.

Conduct sales calls, networking events, client site inspections, and presentations to promote the hotel’s products and services.

Lead negotiations and close contracts with favorable terms for both clients and the hotel.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

Coordinate with Revenue Management, Marketing, Operations (Rooms, F&B, Events) to ensure smooth execution of group and event business.

Communicate client requirements and ensure all departments are briefed on contracted details and client expectations.

Monitor market trends and competitor activities to adjust sales strategies and identify growth opportunities.

Prepare and present regular sales activity reports to Director of Sales & Marketing.

Coach and mentor junior sales team members on sales techniques, client engagement, and CRM processes.

Represent the hotel at trade events, industry functions, and client entertainment as required.

Qualifications & Skills
Education

Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality, Business Administration, Marketing, or related field (preferred).

Experience

Minimum of 5+ years in hotel sales within luxury or upscale hospitality.

Proven success in driving revenue across corporate, MICE, and group segments.

Skills

Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.

Strong networking ability and established industry contacts.

Proficiency in CRM systems and hotel sales tools (e.g., Opera, Delphi) is advantageous.

Strategic thinker with good analytical and planning skills.

Fluent in English; additional languages are a plus.

Working Conditions

Full-time position with possible weekend/evening duties based on business needs (e.g., client events, trade shows).

Based in Kuala Lumpur with travel for client meetings and industry events as required.

Reporting Line

Reports directly to the Director of Sales & Marketing (or Head of Commercial).
