Job Description
The Senior Medical Writer plays a strategic role in shaping the scientific and medical voice of brands within the agency. This role involves developing high-quality, accurate content across platforms such as training materials, fact sheets, websites, journals, and newsletters. Strong scientific expertise, persuasive communication, and sound judgment are essential to ensure clarity, credibility, and compliance. The writer will support multiple accounts and therapy areas, guiding teams toward scientific and strategic excellence aligned with brand objectives.
Key Requirements
- Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of assigned products/brands and adhere to pharmaceutical marketing regulations and compliance requirements.
- Develop compelling, insight-driven scientific narratives that align with brand strategies and support product positioning.
- Analyse and distil complex medical data to identify key insights that enhance marketing opportunities and support strategic messaging.
- Integrate critical data points into persuasive content that resonates with healthcare professionals and promotes appropriate product utilization.
- Collaborate with design teams to create impactful visuals, including graphics, figures, and infographics, based on original research or review articles.
- Partner with Copywriters to co-develop content, with a primary focus on clinical and scientific materials.
- Review and validate promotional materials for medical accuracy and regulatory compliance.
- Provide expert consultation to clients and brand managers on interpreting clinical data and its implications for marketing and communication.
- Contribute actively to strategic discussions, client meetings, market research, and campaign development.
- Mentor and support junior writers, ensuring consistency, scientific rigor, and storytelling quality across accounts.
- Troubleshoot complex or high‑stakes content challenges across therapy areas to ensure consistent scientific excellence.
- Manage the manuscript submission process, ensuring proper referencing and adherence to regulatory guidelines (may vary by account).
- Continuously monitor medical literature and industry developments to identify emerging trends, opportunities, or potential risks for assigned products.
Qualification
- Degree in life sciences, pharmacy, medicine, or a related field (e.g., PhD, PharmD, MD).
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in medical writing, preferably within healthcare communications or pharmaceutical environment.
- Proven ability to interpret, and translate complex scientific information into clear, credible and strategically relevant messages.
- Confident communicator, capable of engaging clients and internal teams in scientific discussions and recommendations.
- Experience leading multiple accounts, mentoring writers, and ensuring cross-brand consistency.
- Strong understanding of medical and scientific concepts, regulatory requirements, and healthcare marketing.
- Proficiency in referencing tools and manuscript submission platforms.
- Ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Excellent project management and time-management skills, with the ability to meet tight deadlines without compromising quality.
