The Marketing Officer is responsible for managing and supporting agents within the assigned Strategic Business Unit (SBU), ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, driving business growth, maintaining portfolio quality, and delivering excellent service to agents and clients.
Job Responsibilities
- Agent & Business Performance Management
- Monitor the performance of agents and direct business under the assigned SBU.
- Ensure agents meet business targets and maintain the required portfolio mix as set by the company.
- Continuously recruit and onboard new agents to expand the agency network.
- Track and manage agents’ renewal activities to ensure business continuity.
- Regulatory & Compliance Oversight
- Ensure agents and clients comply with Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) guidelines and company policies.
- Monitor and ensure compliance with CBC, MMC, and CPD hour requirements for all agents.
- Conduct or arrange CPD training sessions for agents to improve product knowledge and professionalism.
- Underwriting Support & Risk Management
- Monitor the supply and control of cover note issuance to agents.
- Arrange pre‑acceptance and follow‑up surveys with risk surveyors when required, including risk management and loss minimization assessments.
- Guide agents regarding non‑motor products, underwriting requirements, and documentation.
- Provide timely and competitive non‑motor quotations to agents and intermediaries.
- Ensure prompt issuance of policies, endorsements, and other relevant documents.
- Manage and support agents in servicing clients efficiently and professionally.
- Collections & Financial Responsibility
- Responsible for premium collection from agents, clients, and other intermediaries.
- Ensure all collections are made within the stipulated time frame and adhere to company guidelines.
- Communication & Coordination
- Attend communication meetings and other relevant internal or external meetings as required.
- Coordinate with other teams or departments to ensure smooth workflow and customer satisfaction.
- Be multi‑skilled and assist other sections or departments when required.
- Additional Duties
- Perform any other duties and responsibilities assigned from time to time by management.
- Support the company's business plans and objectives to achieve overall performance targets.
Job Requirements
Education/Certifications
- Degree in Marketing, Business Administration, Insurance, or related field (Master’s degree is an advantage).
Experience
- Min 5 years of experience in insurance marketing, agency management, or related fields.
- Min 2–5 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
- Strong understanding of general insurance products, especially non‑motor lines.
- In-depth knowledge of BNM guidelines and insurance regulatory framework.
- Proven track record in agency development, business growth, and portfolio management.
- Strong leadership, communication, coaching, and stakeholder management skills.
- Analytical, results‑driven, and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Willingness to travel when required.
