Introduced in July 2018, Setel is a mobile platform that aims to delight customers by innovating for better, inclusive mobility. Setel serves customers across Malaysia by powering one app as the constant companion to ease motorists’ journey across fueling, parking, EV charging, motor insurance, road tax, auto assistance, general purchases, and more across an ecosystem of PETRONAS petrol stations, retail partners, and online merchants.

Role Purpose:

As the Senior Manager, Data Analytics, you will lead both the data and strategy teams. Your role is to elevate our data capability beyond reporting and turn insights into practical actions that influence decisions across product, commercial, and operations. On the strategy side, you will drive market research, industry analysis, competitor scanning, and opportunity assessment. You’ll build a strong fact base, translate it into strategic choices, and turn those choices into clear, actionable plans. This includes market sizing, evaluating new business lines, and shaping long‑term growth. You will work closely with senior leadership to align on priorities and ensure focus on high-impact areas.

This is a senior leadership role for someone who is commercially strong, able to simplify complexity and confident in engaging at the executive level. You will need to connect information across the organisation and turn it into recommendations that drive growth and long term value.

In this role you will:

• Build core dashboards and analytical models to give leadership a clear view of customer, product and commercial performance.
• Run deep dive analyses on key business issues to identify root causes, quantify impact and guide business actions.
• Translate data into clear, business relevant insights and present findings to leadership in a simple and actionable way.
• Conduct market, customer and competitor research to identify opportunities, risks and industry shifts.
• Develop business cases and financial models to evaluate new initiatives and support leadership decisions.
• Turn strategic priorities into practical plans by aligning teams, defining outcomes and tracking progress.

You're a great fit if you have:

• Bachelor or Master’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Business Analytics, Data Science, Economics, Business or related disciplines).
• Professional certifications in analytics or technology (for example: Tableau, PowerBI, SQL, AWS or Azure data certifications) are an added advantage.
• Training or exposure in strategy, finance or business planning (for example: financial modelling, corporate strategy courses) is preferred.
• Experience leading data and strategy teams, managing multiple workstreams and bringing structure to complex, ambiguous problems.
• Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills, with hands on experience conducting research, sizing opportunities and turning findings into clear recommendations.
• Proven ability to translate complex data into simple insights and storylines for senior leaders, driving alignment and action.
• Demonstrated capability to influence decision making by framing options, validating assumptions and presenting analysis in a clear, commercially focused way.

Technical/Functional Skills

• Advanced proficiency in data analysis tools and techniques, with the ability to interpret trends, drivers and commercial impact.
• Experience building data frameworks, dashboards and standards that improve decision quality across the organisation.
• Strong understanding of data governance, data quality and compliance to ensure accuracy and reliability of insights.
• Expertise in data visualisation and storytelling to turn complex analysis into clear business narratives.
• Solid grounding in market research, competitive analysis and opportunity sizing to support strategic direction.
• Ability to build financial models, assess business cases and evaluate strategic options using structured, fact based methods.
