Job summary

A reputable law firm in Malaysia is seeking an experienced family lawyer to manage a range of family law matters, including marital disputes and child custody. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5–8 years of experience, a valid Practising Certificate, and proven leadership abilities to mentor junior staff. You'll provide legal advice, represent clients in court, and ensure compliance with legal standards. This role demands high professionalism and strong advocacy skills.

Job description

Handle a full range of family law matters, including marital dispute, judicial separation, child custody and access, maintenance, division of matrimonial assets, adoption, and related applications.

Provide sound legal advice and clear explanations to clients on their rights, obligations, and legal options.

Represent clients in court proceedings, mediations, negotiations, and case management sessions.

Draft, review, and settle pleadings, affidavits, agreements, consent orders, and other legal documents.

Develop case strategies and ensure matters are conducted efficiently and in the client’s best interests.

Supervise, guide, and mentor junior lawyers, pupils, and legal executives in family law matters.

Review junior lawyers’ work and ensure compliance with legal standards and firm policies.

Manage client relationships professionally and handle sensitive issues.

Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, rules, professional conduct standards, and court procedures.

Requirements & Qualifications:

Possess a valid Practising Certificate and admitted as an Advocate & Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya.

Minimum 5–8 years’ post-qualification experience in family law practice.

Strong knowledge of family law legislation, court procedures, and current legal developments.

Proven ability to independently manage complex cases and handle court proceedings.

Leadership experience with the ability to supervise and mentor junior staff.

Excellent drafting, advocacy, negotiation, and communication skills.

High level of professionalism, integrity, and discretion when dealing with confidential matters.
