Job Overview
Legal Counsel responsible for drafting, reviewing, and providing legal advice on corporate agreements, contracts, employment documents, and related legal matters for the Company and its subsidiaries and associate investee companies.
Responsibilities
- Vet, review, draft, and advise on corporate agreements, contracts, employment and other legal related documents entered into by the Company and its subsidiaries, associate companies and investee companies.
- Handle legal enquiries and provide qualified legal opinions, advice and proposals for resolution of legal issues.
- Report to the Head of Department to ensure legal and compliance matters integrated into overall organisation strategy, operations, compliance and corporate businesses.
- Attend relevant legal and compliance meetings and assist the Head of Department on instructed matters as and whenever necessary.
- Provide legal advice and support to the Company’s other business units in legal, compliance, operational and/or contractual matters.
- Conduct proper legal research and keep abreast of developments and updates on all relevant ABAC, AMLA, PDPA rules and regulations and full compliance to Bursa listing requirements including announcements, queries and justifications of the Company to Bursa whenever necessary.
- Liaise and assist the Head of Department in liaising with professional advisors and external legal counsels for legal matters related to the Company and its subsidiaries and associate companies.
- Perform any other applicable tasks as assigned by the Head of Department across the group of companies.
Qualifications
- Candidate shall possess a recognised Bachelors of Law Degree and/or Master of Law Degree or equivalent.
- Minimum 5 years of working experience as a legal counsel (currently practising as Advocates & Solicitors or non-practising lawyer) or serving as Senior Legal Associate/Executive in other Public Listed Companies.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate and present complex legal issues and explanations to other non-legal stakeholders.
- Possess high level of integrity and confidentiality.
- Possesses strong analytical, problem-solving skills, meticulous with common sense, discipline and able to work independently with minimum supervision.
- Candidate(s) that are well versed and familiar with Bursa Listing’s requirements & regulations, and the capital market shall have an added advantage.
