Job summary

A manufacturing company based in Malaysia is looking for a Senior HSSE Executive to oversee health, safety, security, and environmental matters. Responsibilities
  • Be part of the functional team, providing expertise in HSSE to support business objectives and development of safety policies & programmes.
  • Develop presentation materials and champion safety & health orientations as well as training/briefing for existing and new employees.
  • Plan, propose, produce, implement, enforce and review the HSSE system for the manufacturing plant and hostel to ensure a safe & healthy environment.
  • Investigate and review accidents, near misses, dangerous occurrences, hazards, occupational diseases and report to DOSH in accordance with OSH Regulation 2004.
  • Keep abreast with HSE updates, amendments or new laws/regulations and advise management on actions to implement and communicate to all employees.
  • Act as the point of contact with regulating bodies such as DOSH, DOE and BOMBA.
  • Establish Emergency Response Team and plan for Emergency Response Program.
  • Attend external safety & health related events/matters/updates.
  • Establish, coordinate and supervise safety & health committee and organize meetings.
  • Review and maintain safety & health week/activities and strengthen the taskforce while abiding by local regulations and best practices.
  • Inspect or conduct audits at workplace, facilities, hazardous waste sites and factory to implement and maintain safety, health & 5S practices.
  • Prepare reports for management, clients or authorities.
  • Promote company safety policy and raise awareness of safety, health & environment among employees.
  • Ensure all employees participate and are responsible for achieving HSE objectives through ongoing education and training/briefing.
  • Establish, maintain and update the HSSE SOPs.
  • Conduct accident/incident investigations and work with management to implement comprehensive solutions/action to prevent recurrences.
  • Handle HSSE operations to ensure compliance, evaluate effectiveness, identify corrective actions and follow-up assessments.
  • Facilitate and participate in HSSE risk assessments and management exercises.
  • Enforce security regulations and address security incidents; mitigate potential violations.
  • Responsible for security operations and related activities including guard posts, entrances/exits, CCTV surveillance, door access, etc.
  • Perform any other ad-hoc projects, assignments, tasks or duties as required by superior/management.
Qualifications
  • Diploma / Bachelor Degree in Occupational Safety, Health & Environmental or equivalent with 5 years of experience, or equivalent.
  • Possesses certification as a qualified Safety Officer according to the OSH Act 1994.
  • Registered Safety & Health Officer (valid Green Book) with DOSH is an added advantage.
  • Familiar with ISO 9001 and ISO 45001 documentations, safety procedures, ergonomics and promoting safe work culture.
  • Good interpersonal skills, able to communicate well and work independently.
  • Strategic thinker with sound judgement, well-organized, proactive and meticulous.
  • Strong enforcement and data analytical skills with knowledge of relevant laws and regulations such as Factories and Machinery Act and Regulations; OSHA, etc.
  • Experience interacting with governing bodies or authorities including DOSH, DOE, BOMBA, local municipal council, etc.
