Job summary

A leading communications firm in Kuala Lumpur is seeking a Communications Specialist. This role involves supporting media management, drafting press releases, and assisting with CSR initiatives. The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years of experience in a communications role, strong writing skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment. Proficiency in English is essential, and knowledge of Bahasa Malaysia or Mandarin is advantageous.

Responsibilities
  • Support the company's communication needs including media management, corporate communications, issue and crisis management, internal communications, awards submissions, and online presence.
  • Develop strategies, plan, and outline the angle of the story for all communications materials.
  • Draft credible documents such as press releases, statements, talking points, media invites, corporate collaterals, and other communications materials for different stakeholders.
  • Proofread communications materials.
  • Undertake research and/or analysis relevant to the company and different industries.
  • Assist in planning, mitigating, advising, and coordinating risk communication activities.
  • Assist in conceptualizing, planning, and supporting CSR and sustainability initiatives.
  • Assess opportunities for sponsorships and other partnerships and manage those relationships.
  • Analyze results of PR campaigns or efforts and prepare reports.
  • Proactively support all other relevant tasks delegated.
  • Build and promote partnerships across organizations and beyond.
Job Requirements
  • Candidate must possess at least a Diploma, Advanced/Higher/Graduate Diploma, Bachelor's Degree, Post Graduate Diploma, Professional Degree, or Master's Degree in Marketing, Public Relations, Corporate Communications / Mass Communications, or an equivalent field.
  • Good command of English (spoken and written); proficiency in corporate writing; adaptive to different writing tones and styles; strong communication and people skills; fairly good analytical and problem‑solving skills.
  • Proficiency in Bahasa Malaysia or Mandarin is an added advantage.
  • Ability to interact effectively at all levels with sensitivity to cultural diversity and adapt as the external environment and organizations evolve.
  • Good knowledge of current media – publications and broadcasts.
  • Able to work under pressure and be adaptive to a fast‑paced environment.
  • Proactive and able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Respect and promote individual and cultural differences.
  • Ability to share knowledge and effectively teach new teammates how to execute PR activities.
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in a communications role.
  • PR agency experience is ideal.
