Job summary

Job description

Location: Malaysia (Sarawak Energy), Company: Sarawak Energy Berhad, Contract position, 1 opening, Closing Date: 11 January 2026.

Key Accountabilities
  • Evaluate and develop funding strategies to optimize the Group’s funding requirements. Evaluate both international and local funding proposals, negotiate terms with financiers, and provide recommendations to the Board of Directors.
  • Lead and execute capital market fundraising exercises, including the establishment and issuance of local and international bond programmes, project financing, and other corporate exercises such as equity financing, sukuk issuance, and private placements.
  • Manage the end-to-end process of corporate exercises, including the appointment of bankers and advisors, coordination with legal counsels, and engagement with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Oversee the appointment and engagement with international and local credit rating agencies (e.g., Moody’s Investors Service, S’P Global Ratings, RAM Rating Services Berhad) to ensure the Group’s credit ratings are maintained or improved.
  • Advise Head of Division and senior management on financing and funding strategies for international and regional expansion initiatives (i.e. projects in Singapore, Indonesia, Brunei).
  • Review and present Decision Papers to Board of Directors and Steering Committees in support of the relevant corporate and financing proposals.
  • Provide analytical support to business units in terms of commercial evaluation and financial decision making.
  • Act as secretariat to the Group Investment Committee ("GIC") – managing a team responsible to organise, manage and coordinate the GIC meetings.
  • Responsible for managing and coordinating project planning and project management for various initiatives/corporate exercises (e.g., Capital Management Framework, Due Diligence exercise), including developing project milestones and timelines, monitoring deliverables progress, addressing identified challenges, etc.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with other financial stakeholders from the international and local capital market, including but not limited to investors, bankers, rating agencies, legal counsels, trustees etc.
  • Provide coaching to subordinates and/or new hires in relation to evaluation of financing proposals, procurement and maintenance of SEB’s credit ratings as well as other capital market and corporate exercises.

  • Perform all tasks in line with the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), Procurement Policies and Procedures (PPP) and Manual of Authority (MOA).
  • Continuous improvement and development in competencies to adapt to a rapidly changing business environment.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Minimum Degree in Finance or relevant qualification, with at least 8-10 years of relevant working experience, including proven exposure in a managerial or leadership capacity. Position will be commensurate with successful candidate’s level of experience.
  • Experience in treasury cash management / capital market funding exercise / corporate advisory work would be an advantage.
  • A recognised Degree in Finance/Accounting/Banking/Commerce or equivalent.
  • Relevant certifications, if any, in MICPA/ACCA/MIA/CIMA/CPA or equivalent would be an advantage.
  • Candidates holding a Capital Market Services Representative’s Licence (CMSRL) would have an added advantage.
