Job description

Senior Engineer, Operation & Maintenance is responsible for ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of Cypark’s renewable energy assets, primarily Large Scale Solar (LSS) plants and other electrical-based facilities. The role focuses on electrical system performance, preventive and corrective maintenance, troubleshooting, and compliance with regulatory requirements. This position requires a strong background in electrical engineering, hands‑on technical expertise, and the ability to coordinate with site teams, contractors, and authorities to achieve optimal plant availability and performance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor daily plant operations, ensuring optimal performance of solar PV systems, inverters, transformers and switchgear.
  • Conduct routine inspections, identify system abnormalities and initiate corrective actions.
  • Analyze electrical performance data, identify trends and recommend improvements to maximize efficiency.
  • Support SCADA monitoring and reporting of plant KPIs.
  • Plan and execute preventive maintenance schedules for electrical equipment (inverters, HV/LV switchgear, transformers, cables, protection systems).
  • Perform corrective maintenance and troubleshooting of electrical faults to minimize downtime.
  • Supervise contractors/vendors during maintenance works, ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, equipment history, and spare parts inventory.
  • Ensure compliance with Suruhanjaya Tenaga (ST), Energy Commission regulations and local authority requirements.
  • Implement and enforce electrical safety procedures, lock‑out/tag‑out (LOTO), and safe work practices.
  • Support audits, inspections, and reporting required by regulatory bodies.
  • Prepare technical reports, incident reports and daily/weekly/monthly O&M performance reports.
  • Update and maintain documentation including electrical drawings, maintenance logs and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Assist in preparing reports for management and stakeholders on plant performance, downtime and corrective actions.
  • Recommend upgrades, modifications and innovative solutions to improve plant reliability and reduce maintenance costs.
  • Prepare technical papers, proposals, and presentations related to system optimization, performance improvement, and technology enhancement for internal or external review.
  • Participate in training and skill development programs to enhance technical competencies.
  • Support knowledge transfer and provide guidance to technicians and junior engineers.
Requirements
  • Willing to be located in Kuala Perlis.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in engineering or science (Electrical Engineering or Renewable Energy‑related field preferred). Registration with BEM is an added advantage. Candidate must possess a valid PW4 certification.
  • Experience: Minimum 3–5 years of experience in electrical O&M, preferably in renewable energy (preferable Solar).
  • Technical Competence:
    • Strong knowledge of solar PV systems, HV/LV switchgear, inverters, transformers, and protection systems.
    • Familiarity with SCADA systems and plant monitoring tools.
    • Proficiency in troubleshooting electrical faults and using diagnostic instruments.
  • Skills: Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities, good communication, and teamwork skills.
  • Other: Willingness to work on‑site at plant locations, travel when required, and perform on‑call duty for emergencies.
