A manufacturing firm in Johor Bahru is seeking a skilled engineer to optimize High Pressure Die Casting (HPDC) machine parameters, troubleshoot casting defects, and conduct process validations. The ideal candidate should have a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering, along with experience in die thermal management and knowledge of continuous improvement methodologies. This role involves collaborating with various teams to ensure process stability and compliance with quality standards.
Optimize HPDC machine parameters (e.g., shot profiles, injection pressures, thermal balance).
Troubleshoot and resolve casting defects (porosity, cold shuts, misruns, soldering, flash).
Conduct die trials and process validation for new tooling/modifications.
Collaborate with tooling, maintenance, and quality teams to ensure process stability.
Monitor and analyze OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness) and FPY (First Pass Yield).
Implement DOE, automation, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Support alloy handling and melt quality control.
Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and environmental standards.
Mentor and train junior engineers and technicians in die casting practices.
Bachelor’s Degree/Diploma in Mechanical / Industrial Engineering or related field.
Experience with die thermal management, gating system design & vacuum die casting.
Familiar with ISO 9001, IATF 16949, ISO 14001.
Strong problem-solving, analytical skills, and team leadership.
Knowledge of continuous improvement (Kaizen, Lean, Six Sigma).
Proficiency in casting simulations (Magmasoft, ProCAST or equivalent) is an added advantage.
