A leading calibration services provider in Malaysia is seeking a Calibration Engineer to perform routine and non-routine calibrations of electrical and temperature instruments. The role requires documenting calibration results, conducting preventive maintenance, and ensuring compliance with quality standards such as ISO 17025. Ideal candidates possess a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field, alongside strong technical skills and the ability to work in multidisciplinary teams. Perform routine and non-routine calibration of various electrical, electronic, and temperature instruments both in the laboratory and on-site, following established procedures and calibration standards.
Document calibration results and issue calibration certificates as needed.
Be an approved Local Accreditation Body signatory for Electrical and Temperature fields of calibration in the laboratory and on-site.
Conduct preventive and corrective maintenance on test equipment. Diagnose and resolve malfunctions or deviations in measurement results, taking appropriate action to repair or adjust devices as required.
Maintain detailed and accurate records of calibration activities, including test results, equipment history, and any adjustments or repairs made. Ensure documentation is compliant with quality management systems such as MS/ ISO 17025.
Review current calibration methods and recommend improvements to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and compliance. Assist with the development and revision of calibration procedures and work instructions.
Expand laboratory work scope for Electrical and Temperature calibration.
Ensure all calibration activities adhere to relevant regulatory and accrediting body requirements. Participate in internal and external audits and assist with corrective actions as necessary.
Track the status, location, and calibration schedules of equipment. Coordinate with procurement and logistics teams for the acquisition and replacement of instruments.
Provide training to technicians and other staff on calibration techniques, safety procedures, and proper equipment handling. Serve as a subject matter expert for internal departments and external clients.
Follow all safety protocols and best practices to ensure a safe working environment. Identify and report potential hazards, and participate in safety training programs.
Work closely with production, engineering, and quality teams to resolve equipment-related issues and support operational goals. Communicate findings and recommendations clearly and professionally.
Stay up-to-date with advancements in calibration technology, electrical instrumentation, and industry standards through ongoing professional development.
Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Instrumentation, Physics, or a related technical field. Advanced degrees or certifications are an asset.
Strong understanding of electrical and electronic theory, measurement principles, and calibration concepts. Skilled in using hand tools, diagnostic equipment, and specialized calibration instruments.
Ability to perform precise measurements and maintain high accuracy standards in documentation and reporting.
Analytical and methodical approach to troubleshooting equipment and resolving calibration discrepancies.
Capable of managing multiple calibration projects simultaneously, prioritizing work, and meeting deadlines.
Effective verbal and written communication abilities for preparing reports, interacting with colleagues, and explaining technical concepts to non-specialists.
Familiarity with quality assurance frameworks such as ISO 9001, ISO 17025, or similar standards.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and calibration management software. Comfortable with data entry, analysis, and reporting tools.
Ability to collaborate effectively in multidisciplinary teams and support cross-functional initiatives.
