Job description

Sekolah Sri UCSI is seeking a dedicated, knowledgeable, and passionate Sejarah (History) Teacher to join our academic team. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering engaging and meaningful history lessons that help students understand Malaysia’s heritage, national identity, and historical development. This role focuses on developing students’ critical thinking, historical understanding, and appreciation of civic values within a supportive and values-based school environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and deliver engaging Sejarah lessons in line with the school curriculum and Malaysian syllabus requirements.
  • Create a positive, structured, and inclusive classroom environment that supports effective learning.
  • Develop lesson plans, teaching materials, and learning activities that encourage historical understanding, inquiry skills, and critical thinking.
  • Help students understand key historical events, figures, timelines, and their relevance to modern society.
  • Foster patriotism, civic awareness, and moral values through the teaching of history.
  • Use a variety of teaching strategies, including discussions, projects, visuals, and inquiry-based learning.
  • Assess, monitor, and evaluate students’ academic progress through tests, assignments, and classroom participation.
  • Maintain accurate student records, assessments, and reports.
  • Provide constructive feedback and communicate effectively with parents regarding students’ progress and learning needs.
  • Participate in school events, co-curricular activities, meetings, and professional development programmes.
  • Uphold the vision, mission, and values of Sekolah Sri UCSI, supporting students’ academic, emotional, and social development.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education, History (Sejarah), or a related field.
  • Recognised teaching qualification (Diploma in Education or equivalent).
  • Minimum of 2 years of teaching experience in Sejarah (preferred).
  • Strong knowledge of the Malaysian Sejarah syllabus and assessment requirements.
  • Good classroom management, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to engage and motivate students of varying abilities.
  • Passion for teaching and commitment to student learning and character development.
  • Willingness to continuously improve teaching practices through professional development.
  • Experience teaching in a private or international school environment.
  • Strong organisational and time-management skills.
