Job summary

A manufacturing company in Ipoh, Malaysia, is seeking a Safety & Health Manager to ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and implement safety programs aimed at zero lost time injuries. The ideal candidate should have at least 5 years of experience in workplace safety management, preferably within a heavy industry or manufacturing environment. Responsibilities include advising employees on safety, reviewing procedures, inspecting conditions, and incident management. A diploma or degree in a relevant field and registration as a Safety Officer with DOSH are required.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in workplace safety management, ideally in heavy industry.
  • Registered Safety Officer with DOSH required.
  • Experience in a cement plant is an advantage.

Responsibilities

Job description

The Safety & Health Manager ensures compliance with OSHA 1994, leads hazard control and preventive measures, and drives safety programs aimed at achieving zero Lost Time Injury (LTI).

Job Responsibilities
  • Adviseandtrainemployeesonsafety-relatedtopics(e.g.,noise,machineryuse,PPE).
  • Reviewandupdatesafetyprocedurestomeetlegislativerequirements.
  • Inspectworkplaceconditionsandpracticestoidentifyhazardsornon-conformities.
  • Stopanyunsafeactsorconditionsthatposeriskstohealthandsafety.
  • Record,investigate,andreportincidents,includingdeterminingrootcausesandworkingwithHRoncompensationprocesses.
  • Oversee contractors safety management, especially for high risk activities (e.g., kiln work, confined space entry, plant shutdowns and heavy machinery).
  • Performanyotherdutiesassignedbythecompany.
Job Requirement
  • Minimum 5 years of working experience in workplace safety management, preferably within heavy industry or manufacturing environment ;experience in a cement plant will be an added advantage.
  • Diploma or Degree in a relevant discipline (Occupational Safety & Health, Engineering, or related field)
  • Must be a Registered Safety Officer with DOSH (Department of Occupational Safety & Health).
