Job summary

A leading construction company in Malaysia is seeking a Health and Safety Officer to ensure compliance with safety regulations in various projects. Job description

Our journey began with small subcontracting works in the power sector and we have evolved into a full-service provider specialising in Engineering, Procurement, Construction and Commissioning (EPCC) for power transmission and distribution systems, handling capacities from 11kV to 500kV.

Qualifications & experience
  • Diploma/Degree in Occupational Safety & Health, or equivalent.
  • Valid Green Book certification from DOSH.
  • Strong knowledge of Malaysian safety laws, standards, and ISO 45001 requirements.
  • Good communication, leadership, training, and reporting skills.
  • Ability to coordinate safety activities across multiple contractors and stakeholders.
  • Preferable with Transmission Project Experience.
Tasks & responsibilities
  • Carry out tasks as per the Occupational Safety and Health (Safety and Health Officer) Regulations 1997.
  • Implement and manage safety programs to improve safety awareness and prevent accidents and injuries.
  • Conduct scheduled and unscheduled inspections to ensure compliance with all regulatory and company safety standards.
  • Record and report any non-compliance or violations, taking immediate action to prevent recurrence.
  • Plan and organize internal and external safety training for all workers.
  • Maintain comprehensive records of all training, inspections, and safety reports.
  • Ensure all required Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) reports are submitted on time.
  • Investigate all incidents, analyze findings, and recommend preventive measures.
  • Lead HSE discussions and propose effective solutions to address any safety deficiencies.
  • Plan and conduct emergency drills for all projects to ensure workers are prepared for emergency situations.
  • Provide expert advice and support to resolve HSE-related issues.
  • Ensure that the required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is used correctly and that a record of its issuance is maintained.
