Job summary

A manufacturing company located in Kuching, Sarawak, is seeking a qualified Safety Executive to oversee compliance with occupational safety regulations and manage safety training programs. The ideal candidate should possess at least a diploma in Occupational Safety and Health and have a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience. This role involves implementing safety policies, conducting audits, and ensuring adherence to ISO 45001 standards. Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools and registration as a Safety & Health Officer with DOSH are required.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in safety and health, preferably in manufacturing.
• Registered Safety & Health Officer with DOSH.
• Experience with environmental aspects like waste management.

Responsibilities

• Monitor Occupational Safety, Health and Environment (SHE) policies.

Job description

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in implementing and monitoring Occupational Safety, Health and Environment (SHE) policies, procedures and programs
• Ensure the compliance with applicable legal requirements under DOSH, Bomba and other regulatory bodies
• Conducting HIRARC, risk assessments, workplace inspection and safety audit
• Ensure the implementation of Permit to Work System for all required activities
• Investigate all incidents, accidents and near misses to prepare reports and corrective actions
• Assist to coordinate safety training, induction, toolbox briefing and emergency drill.
• Assist in monitoring safety performance indicators (leading and lagging) and report to management
• Act as the key person for ISO 45001 implementation, maintenance and audit activities
• Liaising with authority bodies, contractors and internal departments related to SHE policies.
• Act as the secretary or member of the safety and health committee
• Perform ad-hoc task as assigned by the management from time to time

Job Requirements

• Possess at least Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety and Health, Environmental Engineering or any related field of studies
• Possess at least 5 years of working experience in safety and health, especially in the field of manufacturing, will be an added advantage
• Prior experience to implementation of ISO 45001 will be an added advantage
• Possess hands‑on experience with chemical safety, PPE management, contractor safety and permit‑to‑work system will be an added advantage
• Possess basic knowledge of environmental aspects such as waste management and scheduled waste will be an added advantage
• Mature, attention to details and able to communicate with all level of employees
• Good people management skills, able to handle a team of staff or work independently
• Registered Safety & Health Officer (SHO - Green Book) with DOSH
• Proficient in using Microsoft Office tools
