We are seeking a Resident Engineer for a project based in Jelebu, Negeri Sembilan with a minimum 15 years of experience. The Resident Engineer is responsible for supervising and managing all aspects of construction of road works to ensure compliance with design specifications, project quality plans, safety standards, project timelines and within budget.

What you'll be doing

Construction Supervision & Quality Assurance

• Oversee daily site operations to ensure all construction activities comply with approved drawings, specifications and applicable standards.
• Monitor the quality of workmanship and verify that all materials used on site meet project requirements and specifications.
• Identify potential non-conformities and implement timely, fair and professional corrective actions.

Coordination & Communication

• Carry out liaison duties and maintain effective communication with contractors, consultants, and relevant authorities on all civil and structural matters.
• Facilitate clear and timely exchanges of information to resolve technical issues and prevent project delays.
• Lead and participate in meetings—including client-consultant meetings, progress meetings, site meetings and any other required discussions—providing accurate site updates, progress reports, clarification on issues, and recommended solutions.

Technical Review & Problem-Solving

• Review shop drawings, method statements and material submissions to ensure technical accuracy and compliance.
• Assess civil and structural elements such as retaining walls, bridges, culverts, pavement layers, drainage systems and other road-related components.
• Provide practical and sound engineering guidance that considers actual site conditions, safety requirements and best practices.

Progress Monitoring & Reporting

• Monitor construction progress against the project schedule and highlight any variances or risks that may impact delivery.
• Prepare clear and comprehensive reports summarising progress, key observations, test results and outstanding issues.
• Conduct verification of completed works and provide assistance to the client in validating quantities and compliance for interim payment certification.

Safety & Compliance

• Promote and uphold a strong safety culture by ensuring full compliance with occupational health and safety regulations.
• Conduct regular site inspections to identify potential hazards and encourage safe work practices among all teams.
• Ensure all construction activities adhere to environmental, statutory and regulatory requirements.

Documentation & Record Keeping

• Maintain accurate and organised records of inspections, test results, approvals, correspondence and daily site activities.
• Ensure all required documentation for project handover—such as as-built drawings and completion certificates—are complete, accurate, and properly submitted.

Professional Conduct & Stakeholder Engagement

• Represent the client with professionalism, integrity, and impartiality, treating all project personnel with respect.
• Build and maintain positive working relationships to support a cooperative, efficient and productive site environment.

What we're looking for

• Minimum of 15 years of work experience in construction, with a strong focus on road works or related fields.
• Possess a Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or an equivalent related qualification.
• Registered Professional Engineer (Ir.) with the Board of Engineers Malaysia (BEM).
• Available to commence work immediately.
