Job description

Sai Asia Builders Sdn Bhd, a leading construction company based in Sungai Petani, Kedah, is seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join our dynamic team. As a Quantity Surveyor, you will play a crucial role in the planning, estimating, and cost management of our construction projects. This is a full‑time position with opportunities for growth and development within the organization.

What you’ll be doing
  • Reviewing construction plans and preparing quantity requirements.
  • Scrutinizing maintenance and material costs, as well as contracts to ensure the best deals.
  • Liaising with site managers, clients, contractors, and subcontractors.
  • Timely submission for tender participation with thorough knowledge of market rates for interior finishes, materials and joinery works.
  • Documenting any changes in design and updating budgets.
  • Meeting clients to determine their needs and discuss any areas that need revising for price or feasibility.
  • Calculating material quantities and costs, labour costs and an achievable project timeframe.
  • Negotiating labour contracts and schedules.
  • Keeping track of construction materials and inventory.
  • Preparing interim claims and verifying subcontractors final quotation/invoice.
  • Analyzing completed projects to determine ROI and compare costs.
  • Measuring and estimating construction progress made at site and submitting progress claims in a timely manner.
  • Issuing legal and demand letters via company solicitors, without delays.
  • Producing project budgeting for feasibility studies.
  • Travelling from the office to various sites as required.
  • Contract administration and reporting to high management.
What we’re looking for
  • Bachelor’s degree in quantity surveying, construction engineering, management, or a related field.
  • 2-4 years of general construction estimating experience, financial experience, interior materials and finishes costing, and construction experience in interior related projects ranging from 500k to 5.0M.
  • In‑depth understanding of interior construction, materials, pricing, and industry.
  • Able to analyze problems and strategize for better solutions.
  • Strong analytical and critical‑thinking skills.
  • Keen judgment and decision‑making ability.
  • Problem‑solving and troubleshooting capabilities.
  • Excellent negotiating and interpersonal skills.
  • A valid driver’s license and a laptop to work with.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy of work.
  • Possess a strong work ethic, good organizational skills and ability to meet strict deadlines.
