Job summary

A leading food ingredient company in Kuala Lumpur is seeking a Quality Control Specialist. The role involves conducting quality control activities on ingredients, products, and processes, performing inspections, and ensuring compliance with food safety regulations. Candidates should have a Degree or Diploma in Food Technology/Science and preferably 1-2 years of experience in the food industry. Strong organizational skills and good command of English are essential. This position offers opportunities to support research and development initiatives.

Qualifications

• Preferably at least 1-2 years’ experience in quality control in the food industry.

Responsibilities

• Conduct quality control activities on ingredients, products & processes.
• Perform necessary QC inspection, analysis, baking test & sensory evaluation.
• Check compliance with product specifications and control COA of materials.
• Coordinate with Operations team on QC Sampling for internal/external tests.
• Manage stock of QC samples and maintain laboratory cleanliness.
• Assist in investigations of non-conformance and customer complaints.
• Support implementation of food regulations in Malaysia and export countries.
• Coordinate and maintain records for FSSC22000, HACCP, GMP & HALAL certifications.
• Participate in audits and implement improvement plans.
• Support R&D during pilot runs and quality tests for new products.

Job description

Conduct quality control activities on ingredients, products & processes in accordance with Quality & Food Safety management system.

Perform necessary QC inspection, analysis, baking test & sensory evaluation on raw materials, semi-finished products & finished products effectively and efficiently. Then report and release the materials as per defined timeline in SAP.

To perform checking during raw materials / trading materials receiving. To check, control and keep certificate of analysis (COA) of materials and ensure compliance to product specification.

To coordinate with Operations team on QC Sampling and preparation for physical, chemical, microbiological, swab or relevant internal / external tests.

To perform daily or regular control, maintenance and calibration of Quality equipment and electrodes. To ensure compliance with the lab equipment cleaning schedule and also ensure hygiene, cleanliness & waste management in the lab.

To check, manage and organize stock of QC samples.

To help investigation & root cause analysis (RCA) of non-conformance, customer complaints and internal complaints.

Support on the implementation of compliance to the food regulations in Malaysia, Singapore and relevant export countries.

Coordinate, implement and control records of FSSC22000, HACCP, GMP & HALAL in order to obtain and keep the associated certificates.

Assist to ensure implementation of Halal requirements & procedures in order to maintain the Halal Certificate.

To participate at internal, external, certification, customer and relevant audits, then implement improvement plan in accordance to the company total quality and food safety management system.

To execute 5S & Safety program and apply in Quality lab & workplace.

Support and work with Research & Development team during pilot run, on-going projects, shelf life study, QC test for new product (NPD), concept and baking techniques development.

Carry out any other responsibility(s) as instructed by superior/management.

JOB REQUIREMENT

Degree/Diploma/Certificate in Food Technology/Science or equivalent.

Preferably at least 1-2 years’ experience in quality control in food industry.

Good organization skills.

Adaptable to changes and team work oriented.

Good command of both written and spoken English.
