Job description

Job Responsibilities

  • Ensure the safety of the food manufacturing process (UHT/Pasteurised/Retort) for DAIRY/MILK products by monitoring and controlling the process from raw ingredient intake to packaging of finished products.
  • Oversee and manage the QUALITY and R&D Department of the plant.
  • Provide technical and scientific oversight of laboratory activities, including selecting and updating test procedures, verifying test methods, establishing laboratory performance standards, resolving technical issues, and ensuring remedial actions are taken when necessary.
  • Test, run, and record experiments with new raw materials, products, and processes in accordance with Research & Development specifications and safety procedures.
  • Research methods to improve formulas and product quality, including flavor, color, texture, and nutritional value.
  • Ensure all raw materials meet specifications and comply with food safety standards and related regulations.
  • Assist in planning and forecasting raw material needs aligned with the company's financial requirements.
  • Comply with the documented quality management system that meets Malaysia/other country standards for the food industry.
  • Develop and review quality policies and procedures.
  • Lead audit programs for external authorities, clients, suppliers, and others.
  • Review and implement changes to QA/QC activities to meet the Quality Management System requirements.
  • Ensure effective in-process quality control and that finished products meet customer expectations and specifications.
  • Manage internal audits, management reviews, customer comments/complaints, and respond appropriately.
  • Investigate non-conformance issues raised by regulatory bodies, suppliers, clients, or potential customers, and propose corrective actions.
  • Prepare training modules, train employees, and evaluate training effectiveness.
  • Assist in troubleshooting quality-related problems and improving product quality.
  • Develop and analyze statistical data, product specifications, and prepare reports to identify deviations from standards.
  • Develop and improve products, research projects to enhance taste, preservation, and packaging solutions.
  • Prepare monthly quality reports for the Director, including updates on KPIs, performance, GMP, audits, etc.
  • Collaborate with all departments, customers, suppliers, and regulatory bodies to prioritize quality in the company.

Requirements

  • Degree in Food Science/Technology or a relevant field.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in dairy/milk food manufacturing.
  • Knowledge and experience with food safety standards and certifications (ISO 22000, ISO 9001, HACCP, HALAL, GMP, MESTI) and other government-mandated standards.
  • Strong communication skills, passionate about Food Safety & Quality.
  • Excellent analytical skills, attention to detail, and ongoing study of quality issues.
  • Ability to manage food quality standards, safety standards, procedures, and regulatory requirements (Malaysia & overseas markets).
