Job summary

A leading manufacturing company in Malaysia seeks a sourcing and purchasing specialist responsible for reviewing BOM data and sourcing materials. The role requires strong knowledge of raw materials and experience in purchasing, ideally in the automation or sheet metal industry. Candidates must have a Diploma or minimum SPM qualification. This position offers an opportunity to develop vendor relationships and manage inventory effectively.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 – 3 years of experience in purchasing, preferably in the automation / sheet metal industry.
  • Strong knowledge in mechanical and electrical/electronic components.

Responsibilities

  • Review data in BOM and source materials/components.
  • Prepare cost estimates on requested materials/components for projects.
  • Source and develop new potential suppliers.
  • Issue Purchase Orders accurately and timely.
  • Monitor inventory levels to ensure adequate stock is maintained.

Skills

Knowledge of raw materials (aluminium, steel, stainless steel)
Interpreting Bills of Materials and technical drawings
Ability to work independently in fast-paced environments

Education

Minimum SPM or Diploma in Logistics, Business Administration or relevant field
Job description
Responsibilities

Review data in BOM and be responsible for sourcing materials/components according to MPN, Manufacturer, and Drawings (Sourcing).

Prepare accurate and comprehensive cost estimates to internal stakeholders on requested materials / components for projects (Sourcing).

Source and develop new potential suppliers at competitive prices, lead times, and quality standards (Sourcing).

Interpret and process Purchase Requisitions (PR) by checking item requirements, pricing, and identifying potential vendors (Purchasing).

Issue Purchase Orders accurately and timely (Purchasing).

Follow up on delivery schedules and re‑scheduling as needed (Purchasing).

Develop and maintain strong relationships with vendors.

Monitor inventory levels to ensure adequate stock is maintained. Verify that all purchased materials & parts meet quality standards.

Work closely with internal departments such as production, engineering, and finance to align purchasing activities and manage inventory efficiently.

Perform any other tasks assigned by the superior.

Job Requirements

Minimum SPM or Diploma in Logistics, Business Administration or relevant field.

Minimum 2 – 3 years of experience in purchasing, preferably in the automation / sheet metal industry.

Material – strong knowledge of raw materials (aluminium, steel, stainless steel etc.).

Standard Part – strong knowledge in mechanical and electrical/electronic components.

Basic knowledge of interpreting Bills of Materials and technical drawings.

Ability to work in fast‑paced environments independently.
