A leading company in the rubber industry is seeking a Product Research Specialist to support market research and product management. The role involves analysing customer insights and market trends, preparing research summaries, and ensuring accurate documentation. Candidates should have a Bachelor’s degree and 2-3 years of relevant experience. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and strong communication skills are essential. This position is located in Subang Jaya, Malaysia.
The Product Research Specialist supports the Product Management team by collecting, organising, and analysing market, customer, and product data. The role focuses on building a reliable fact base to support product decisions across the product lifecycle, from early research to post-launch review.
This is an execution-focused role that works closely with Product Managers and cross-functional teams.
Key Responsibilities
Market and Competitive Research
Conduct ongoing market research to identify trends, technologies, and customer requirements.
Collect and maintain competitive product information including features, pricing, certifications, and regional variations.
Track relevant regulatory and industry standards and summarise implications for Product Management.
Customer and User Insights
Support the coordination of interviews, surveys, and feedback sessions with distributors, end users, and industry partners.
Document customer feedback, pain points, and usage behaviour in a structured format.
Support field testing activities and consolidate feedback for review.
Product Data and Analysis
Compile internal product data including sales trends, returns, complaints, and quality feedback.
Prepare basic analysis and summaries to support product reviews.
Assist in preparing research briefs and presentation materials for Product Managers.
Cross-Functional Support
Work with Product Managers on assigned research tasks related to product planning and evaluation.
Coordinate with R&D, QA, Marketing, Procurement, and Supply Chain teams to gather required inputs.
Support material, cost, and supplier benchmarking activities.
Documentation and Reporting
Prepare research summaries, comparison tables, and basic SWOT analyses.
Maintain organised and up-to-date research records.
Ensure research outputs are accurate and accessible.
Qualifications Required
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Engineering, or a related field.
2 to 3 years of working experience in product research, business analysis, market research, or a related role.
Strong attention to detail and comfort working with structured data.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and basic data analysis tools.
Clear written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred
Experience in manufacturing, PPE, industrial equipment, or technical products.
Familiarity with regulated or standards-driven product environments.
Experience working cross-functionally with Product Management, R&D, QA, or Supply Chain teams.
Research outputs are accurate, structured, and decision-ready.
Inputs support Product Managers in roadmap and product decisions.
Tasks are delivered on time with minimal rework.
Issues and information gaps are flagged early.
