We are seeking a competent and dedicated Perfusionist to provide safe and high-quality perfusion support.
Clinical Functions
- Monitors and maintains patient parameters during CPB. This includes the regulation of blood pressure, heart rate, urinary output, arterial and venous blood
- gasses, acid/base status, blood coagulation, temperature, myocardial protection and constantly assess mechanical parameters of the circuit.
- Ensure all practice in proper management of the patient's physiologic functions by monitoring necessary variables.
- Knowledgeable concerning the variety of equipment available to perform extracorporeal circulation functions and is responsible for selecting the appropriate equipment and techniques to be used in clinical practice.
- Performs Intraoperative Autotransfusion during procedures when significant amounts of blood loss is expected; independently operates the autotransfusion device, ensuring a safe blood product.
- Performs extracorporeal circulation functions, providing total life support safely and optimally during cardiac operative procedures including Coronary Artery Bypass.
- Grafting (CABG), intracardiac valve repairs and replacements, congenital cardiac defect repairs, aortic aneurysm repairs.
- Provides technical management of the Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump (IABP) during invasive procedure in the Operating Room, ICU or Cardiac Catheterization
- Provides extracorporeal shunting of blood for selected patients, allowing for better control of blood loss and improved hemodynamic stability.
- Performs Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO) and Extracorporeal Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (ECPR). Provides long term total body circulatory support for adult, paediatric, and neonatal patients suffering severe cardiac and/or pulmonary insufficiency
- Performs Hemofiltration; provides for excess intravascular and interstitial fluid removal from patients undergoing cardiac surgery and ECMO. This includes modified ultrafiltration in paediatric cardiac procedures
- Provides and delivers Cardioplegia Solution (CPS) to coronary artery system, causing cardiac arrest and reduction in myocardial metabolic rate as are required for cardiac surgery.
- Supports procedures involving catheterization lab such as IABP
- Provides ECMO transport services from referring health care systems as when required
- Practice infection control and general cleanliness to prevent cross infection of patient, staff and equipment contamination.
- Assist daily damp dusting and cleaning of all work surfaces and equipment.
- Work as part of a health care team to assess patient needs, plan and modify care and implement interventions.
- Ensure effective coordination with other department for timely delivery of patients' treatment and investigation.
Administrative Functions
- Ensure safe and healthy operating environment to achieve customer satisfaction. it is achieved by:
- Assist in smooth running of operating cases (cardiothoracic) by perform as supervisor in the case.
- Exceeding the standard and quality set in perfusion services.
- Assists in the Extracorporeal circulation functions Specialist training course.
- Assists with cardiothoracic surgery teaching for students, staffs in current techniques of cardiopulmonary bypass
- Participates in service-line "on-call" responsibilities.
- Establish Standard Operating Procedure (Sop) and policies.
- Manage customer's complaint promptly.
- Promote and maintain effective teamwork and interdepartmental relationship.
- Participate in equipment/ product evaluation according to hospital policy.
- Participate in corporate marketing and business development when necessary.
- Participate actively in learning and development interventions identified by
- company to acquire required knowledge and skills for current and/or future job requirements.
- Involve in new project or services/ commissioning of new department(s) as assigned.
- Managing resources/ supplies to achieve optimum productivity and enhance cost containment, i.e. ensure accurate charging.
- Monitoring inventory to ensure medical equipment is available and in good working condition at all times.
Requirement & Qualifications
- Diploma / Degree in relevant field
- Bachelor of Cardiopulmonary and Perfusion Technology (Hons) will be advantage
- Minimum 3-5 years in relevant capacity
- Ability to personally build and maintain relationships with consultants.
- Good communication skills, both written and spoken
