Job Overview: UCSI Schools is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Part-Time Music Teacher to join our academic team. The successful candidate will deliver inspiring music lessons, nurture students’ musical abilities, and cultivate a lifelong appreciation for music through engaging instruction in performance, theory, and creativity.
Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver interactive and engaging music lessons on a part-time schedule, covering music theory, instrumental practice, and vocal techniques.
- Teach students to play a variety of musical instruments and enhance their listening, composing, and performance skills.
- Encourage creativity through activities such as songwriting, improvisation, and music composition.
- Assist in organizing and preparing students for school concerts, recitals, and music-related events.
- Foster a positive, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment that inspires students’ confidence and love for music.
- Assess student progress through practical assessments, performances, and reports while providing constructive feedback.
- Incorporate technology and digital tools into music lessons where appropriate.
- Collaborate with other teachers and departments to enrich the school’s music curriculum and extracurricular programs.
- Participate in selected school activities, such as cultural events and performances, as part of the music program.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Music, Music Education, or a related field.
- Recognized teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE, B.Ed, or equivalent).
- Minimum of 2 years of teaching experience in music education.
- Proficiency in teaching various musical instruments (e.g., piano, guitar, violin) and vocal training.
- Strong classroom management, organizational, and communication skills.
- Experience teaching the Cambridge curriculum (preferred but not mandatory).
- Passion for music education, performance, and inspiring student creativity.
