To provide paediatric occupational therapy services including assessment, intervention, counselling, and professional care for infants, children, and adolescents. The role focuses on supporting developmental, sensory, motor, and functional needs while building strong rapport with children and their families. The incumbent will also promote the department’s paediatric therapy services to potential clients and the community.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Clinical Responsibilities
- Conduct paediatric occupational therapy sessions according to the monthly roster, covering both in‑patient and out‑patient paediatric cases.
- Provide age‑appropriate therapy interventions focusing on developmental skills, sensory integration, fine/gross motor skills, handwriting, play skills, ADLs, and school‑readiness activities.
- Monitor each child’s developmental progress and adjust treatment plans to support their individual growth and needs.
- Provide counselling, guidance, and home‑based instructions to parents/caregivers for follow‑up treatment.
- Prepare timely and accurate progress notes for paediatric in‑patients and out‑patients.
- Provide relevant reports and updates to paediatricians, consultants, and other healthcare professionals involved in the child’s care.
Service & Operational Responsibilities
- Ensure every paediatric patient treated is accurately charged.
- Establish and maintain good rapport with parents, caregivers, paediatricians, educators, and multidisciplinary teams.
- Participate and contribute to staff training programs, parent education sessions, and paediatric‑focused workshops.
- Stay professionally updated with paediatric OT research, developmental trends, and evidence‑based intervention techniques.
- Maintain necessary paediatric statistics, therapy records, and departmental reports in a timely manner.
- Ensure therapy equipment and paediatric tools are safely used, regularly maintained, and well‑documented.
- Assist in the marketing and promotion of paediatric therapy services.
- Be responsible for achieving Department and Hospital quality indicators.
- Perform any additional duties and assignments as required.
QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Therapy.
- At least 2 years of clinical experience, preferably with exposure to paediatric patients or developmental therapy settings.
- Knowledge of developmental milestones, sensory processing, paediatric assessments, and child‑centred intervention approaches.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively with children, parents/caregivers, and multidisciplinary teams.
