A telecommunications company in Malaysia is seeking a Network Engineering/Field Operations Specialist to oversee post-fibre network deployment and ensure uptime. Responsibilities include managing on-site infrastructure, proactive monitoring, troubleshooting outages, and preventive maintenance. To manage post-fibre network deployment, ensuring network uptime, and managing preventive/corrective maintenance and spare parts inventory.
Field Maintenance & Operations: Oversee all on-site network infrastructure (e.g., fiber optic cables, termination points, active equipment in cabinets/huts) after initial deployment.
Uptime Assurance & Monitoring: Proactively monitor network performance, traffic, and physical integrity to detect and prevent outages or degradation of service quality.
Troubleshooting & Resolution (Corrective Maintenance): Serve as the highest escalation point for network outages and incidents, diagnosing and resolving complex issues in the field to restore service rapidly (Mean Time to Repair/Restore).
Preventive Maintenance (PM): Develop and execute a schedule for routine inspections, testing, and component upgrades to maximize the lifespan and reliability of the fibre network.
Spares Management: Manage the inventory, logistics, and deployment of critical spare parts for network hardware to minimize downtime during equipment failure.
Documentation: Maintain accurate records of all network configurations, maintenance activities, and a geographical database of all physical assets.
Education: Bachelor's degree in Telecommunications, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or Information Technology.
Experience: 3–5 years of experience in Network Operations Center (NOC) or field-based network support, specifically with fibre optic network infrastructure and last-mile connectivity.
Willing to travel for assignments as required.
