A leading data center provider in Malaysia is looking for a Mechanical Engineer to oversee mechanical maintenance and troubleshooting of critical systems. The role includes hands-on responsibilities for systems like chilled water and HVAC infrastructure. The ideal candidate must have a degree in Mechanical Engineering and over three years of experience in a similar environment. This position emphasizes safety, compliance, and efficiency in maintaining mission-critical systems.
The Maintenance & Critical Response (MCR) Team is a specialised, in-house engineering organisation designed to provide rapid response, advanced troubleshooting, and self-perform maintenance for mission-critical systems across the data centre portfolio.
The Mechanical Engineer is responsible for overseeing and performing mechanical maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair activities across mission-critical mechanical systems in the data centre. This includes chilled water systems, FWU/CRAC equipment, CDU, pumps, valves, motors, heat exchangers, and other HVAC/mechanical infrastructure.
The Mechanical Engineer ensures safe execution of work, restoration of system functionality, and compliance with operational and safety standards, supporting site reliability and uptime.
Perform mechanical maintenance, troubleshooting, and component replacement on CHW systems, pumps, motors, valves, FWU/CRAC equipment, and related mechanical systems.
Diagnose mechanical faults and conduct repair works on chillers, heat exchangers, CDU units, VFD-driven equipment, and mechanical control devices.
Assist in developing MOPs and SOPs for mechanical maintenance and ensuring all works are carried out safely and accurately.
Supervise mechanical technicians and ensure safe and proper execution of mechanical tasks.
Review maintenance quality, verify safety permits, and ensure accuracy of mechanical documentation and reporting.
Support emergency response during cooling or mechanical-related incidents and assist in system stabilisation and recovery.
Conduct routine mechanical inspections, identify risks, and raise early warnings to prevent system failure.
Ensure compliance with statutory requirements, internal standards, and maintenance logs, and keep mechanical service records up to date.
Diploma/Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
3+ years hands-on experience in mechanical maintenance within data centres, critical facilities, or industrial mechanical systems.
Strong understanding of CHW systems, FWU/CRAC equipment, pumps, valves, motors, CDU, heat exchangers, etc.
