Role Overview

The Manager, IT Business Partner serves as the strategic liaison between the IT function and the business units, ensuring technology initiatives and operational IT support directly enable business performance, efficiency, and growth. The role is responsible for understanding business strategies and translating them into IT priorities, projects, and service requirements. It ensures alignment between business needs and IT capabilities, driving value creation and stakeholder satisfaction through proactive engagement, solutioning, and governance.

Business Partnership & Stakeholder Management
  • Serve as the primary IT point-of-contact for assigned business units (e.g., Plantations, Mills, Refineries, or Corporate Functions).
  • Understand business strategies, priorities, and pain points to identify IT solutions and opportunities for improvement.
  • Build strong relationships with business leaders to ensure IT initiatives are aligned with business needs and deliver measurable outcomes.
  • Facilitate regular communication between IT and business stakeholders, including service reviews, project updates, and issue resolution.
IT Planning & Alignment
  • Translate business requirements into clear IT strategies, roadmaps, and investment proposals.
  • Participate in annual business and IT planning cycles to align resources, budgets, and priorities.
  • Ensure IT project proposals are business-driven, with defined value propositions and ROI.
  • Coordinate with Group IT teams (Infrastructure, Applications, Cybersecurity, Digital) to ensure solutions are scalable and integrated.
Project Delivery & Governance
  • Oversee IT projects impacting business units, ensuring timely delivery, quality, and adherence to scope and budget.
  • Serve as the business owner’s representative in IT project governance, ensuring business requirements are met.
  • Monitor post-implementation performance and drive continuous improvement of deployed solutions.
  • Manage change management and stakeholder engagement during project rollouts.
  • Act as escalation point for critical IT incidents or service issues affecting business operations.
  • Collaborate with IT Operations to ensure service level agreements (SLAs) and support responsiveness meet business expectations.
  • Review incident trends and work with operations teams to implement preventive measures.
Business Insight & Value Realisation
  • Identify opportunities for digital enablement, automation, and process optimisation in partnership with business and digital teams.
  • Drive adoption of Group systems, data standards, and digital platforms across business units.
  • Track and report business value realised from IT initiatives (e.g., productivity gains, cost savings, process efficiency).
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
  • Level of business satisfaction with IT service and support (via surveys or scorecards)
  • Timeliness and success of IT project delivery to business units
  • Alignment of IT initiatives with business strategies and productivity targets
  • Measured business value delivered through IT (e.g., cost reduction, process efficiency)
  • Quality and responsiveness of IT service issue resolution
Qualifications & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Business Administration, or related discipline.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in IT management, with at least 5 years in a business partnering or IT relationship management role.
  • Proven ability to translate business needs into technology strategies and actionable plans.
  • Experience in manufacturing, agribusiness, or asset-heavy industries preferred.
  • Strong understanding of IT service management (ITSM), project management, and enterprise systems.
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving capabilities.
