Job description

We are a multi-national company involved developing, manufacturing and marketing for intelligent and ergonomic products, located in I-park Industrial area, Kulai, Johor. We are looking to hire for Lorry Driver (with GDL License).

Key Responsibilities
Loading and Unloading Goods
  • Load raw materials (e.g., steel, parts, packaging materials) and finished goods (e.g., products ready for delivery) onto the lorry in accordance with safety guidelines and load specifications.
  • Ensure correct placement and securing of goods to prevent damage during transport.
  • Assist with the unloading of goods at designated locations, ensuring that the products are carefully handled and delivered to the correct area within the facility.
Secure Transportation of Goods
  • Check the security of loads before departing to ensure that all goods are properly strapped, secured, and will not shift during transit.
  • Regularly inspect cargo during the journey if required, to ensure safety and prevent any issues with the load.
  • Follow safety protocols for handling hazardous materials or fragile items, ensuring that all regulatory and safety guidelines are met.
Timely Delivery of Goods
  • Ensure that raw materials are delivered promptly to the production area to maintain the flow of manufacturing operations.
  • Coordinate with warehouse and production teams to ensure that the delivery is completed on time, and communicate any delays or issues that may arise.
  • Adhere to delivery schedules and route plans, ensuring the efficient transport of goods and minimal downtime in production.
Vehicle Maintenance and Safety Checks
  • Perform daily vehicle inspections, including checking tires, brakes, fluid levels, lights, and other critical vehicle components before starting the journey.
  • Report any mechanical issues to the transport supervisor and arrange for repairs as needed to ensure the vehicle remains in safe working condition.
Compliance with Safety and Regulatory Requirements
  • Adhere to traffic regulations and the company’s safety protocols for transporting goods.
  • Ensure compliance with industry regulations regarding the transportation of hazardous materials (if applicable) or any specific requirements for transporting products to the production facility.
Communication with Warehouse and Production Teams
  • Coordinate with warehouse staff to ensure accurate and timely loading of goods, verifying that the right materials are loaded for the correct destination.
  • Communicate with production managers or supervisors to confirm timing and urgency of deliveries, especially for just‑in‑time production schedules.
Documentation and Reporting
  • Complete necessary delivery documentation, including consignment notes, delivery logs, and any paperwork required for the transport of goods.
  • Report any delivery discrepancies (e.g., damaged goods, incorrect orders) promptly to the Warehouse manager.
Health and Safety Compliance
  • Follow all health and safety guidelines for lifting, loading, and unloading goods.
  • Use personal protective equipment (PPE) when required and ensure safe working practices at all times.
Qualifications
  • Possess at least SPM / Diploma in any field.
  • Possess a valid GDL license.
  • Clean Driving Record: Proven track record of safe driving with no major violations or accidents.
  • Basic Knowledge of Vehicle Maintenance.
  • Physical Stamina: Ability to load, unload, and handle heavy goods, as well as drive for extended periods.
  • Attention to Detail: Strong focus on securing loads properly, ensuring safe and efficient transport, and maintaining accurate delivery documentation.
  • Communication Skills: Effective communication with team members, warehouse staff, and production managers to ensure smooth delivery operations.
  • Health and Safety Awareness: Familiarity with health and safety regulations related to transporting goods, particularly in a manufacturing or warehouse setting.
