LOGISTICS OFFICER - CONTRACT ELECTRONICS MANUFACTURING

The Logistics Officer is responsible for managing and coordinating the flow of raw materials, components, and finished goods to ensure seamless manufacturing operations. It involves planning and overseeing inbound and outbound logistics, maintaining optimal inventory levels, coordinating with suppliers, transport providers, and warehouse, and ensuring that all materials are delivered on time and within budget. The Logistics Officer plays a critical role in minimizing production delays, optimizing supply chain efficiency, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage local and international logistics operations, ensuring efficient import/export processes and timely deliveries.
- Liaise with freight forwarders, shipping lines, port and customs authorities, and other logistics partners to facilitate the clearance and delivery of goods.
- Familiarly with the LMW license application and renewal process, including reporting and documentation submission monthly and annual reports, sub-contract reports, exemption lists, customs forms, and manage LMW license renewals.
- Manage applications and reports for import and export documentation to relevant government bodies (e.g., BOMBA, MIDA, DOSH, DOE, MITI).
- Prepare, verify and process all necessary documentation, such as customs declarations, invoices, packing list, HS Codes, bills of lading and certificate of origin.
- Track and update the status of shipments, and provide regular updates to internal or external team.
- Identify and resolve any issues or discrepancies that arise during the logistics process.
- Recommend shipping route and cost optimizations.
- Assist with the implementation and maintenance of logistics-related systems and procedures.
- Ensure ESD-safe handling, storage, and shipping of sensitive electronic components.
- Maintain full traceability of all materials and finished goods in compliance with ISO9001 or other applicable standards.
- Coordinate with QA and Engineering for non-conforming materials management.
- Stay current with local and international regulations affecting electronics logistics.
- Operate ERP/MRP systems for inventory and logistics management.
- Provide support and guidance to other team members as required.
Job Requirements
- Diploma/Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Business, or related field.
- Minimum 3-5 years’ experience in logistics, shipping, or warehouse operations.
- Basic knowledge of Customs procedures, import/export documentation, and K1/K9 declaration process.
- Strong coordination, planning, and organizational skills.
- Proficient in MS Office; familiarity with SAP systems is a plus.
- Able to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and multitask effectively.
- Strong problem-solving and negotiation skills.
- Team player with high attention to detail.
- Familiarity with ISO9001, IPC standards, and ESD compliance.
- Hands-on leadership style with excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, customer-driven environment.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally.
