A renewable energy company in Kuala Lumpur is seeking a Legal Counsel to provide legal support for solar and bioenergy projects. The ideal candidate will be responsible for advising on regulatory matters, negotiating agreements, and drafting commercial contracts. Candidates should have experience in renewable energy law and strong negotiation skills. This position offers the opportunity to work collaboratively with various teams to promote compliance and manage legal risks.
Provide legal support for solar and bio energy projects, including project structuring, land matters, licensing, PPA, EPC, O&M, and JV agreements.
Advise on regulatory requirements under SEDA, Suruhanjaya Tenaga, TNB, and other authorities relevant to renewable energy operations.
Review and negotiate agreements with project partners, landowners, investors, contractors, and government agencies.
Draft, review, and negotiate commercial contracts including JV agreements, service agreements, vendor contracts, procurement agreements, NDAs, and financing-related documents.
Support corporate governance matters including board documentation, shareholder resolutions, and statutory filing requirements.
Advise senior management on legal implications of business strategies and policies.
Identify legal and regulatory risks across operations and implement mitigation strategies.
Handle dispute resolution matters involving contractors, partners, suppliers, or regulatory bodies.
Manage and coordinate with external legal counsel for litigation, arbitration, land matters, or regulatory investigations.
Collaborate with Project, Corporate Finance, HR, and Operations teams on legal matters.
